DVC resort availability in early June?

We've always gone to WDW in early June (first week, before it gets too crowded), and when we've rented points we've had good luck getting our first choice of resorts. From what I've read lately, although WDW as a whole tends to be busy during the summer months, the DVC resorts tend to be busier from the fall through Christmas.

Have others generally found this to be true? One thing I like about renting points is that I can just look for people on renting boards who have our preferred destination as their home resort, making booking 8+ months out very easy wherever we want to go.

However, if we were to buy in, we'd be "stuck" with one home resort. As long as we stay in our chosen careers, early June is going to be the best time for us. So, if early June is generally available at the 7 month window for most resorts, having only one home resort won't be a problem for us.

I'm especially curious about the smaller resorts. Nobody really knows what will happen when VGF comes online, or if the Poly ever happens, but my impression is that availability at the 7 month window will be very limited.

I haven't been a member that long . But I have noticed that high times for DVC seem to be in the cheaper point times . And around events like food and wine thanksgiving and Xmas Easter . I would guess that the DVC availability at 7 months is probably the best considering its very hot and it take a good amount of points to go in the summer . Of course you may have tones you won't get what you want at 7 months I am sure .

Early June is a great time to be at WDW. We have gone twice during that week. The first time we stayed at our home (AKV), so we booked at 11 months and had no trouble. The second time, we stayed at BLT for 4 nights. When we booked exactly at the 7 month mark, we got a 2BR lock-off. We wanted a dedicated, so we did a WL and got it within 3-4 weeks. We had no trouble getting a 2BR lake view at BLT for 4 nights in late July this summer and we could have gotten 8 nights in a BCV dedicated 2BR at exactly the 7 month mark.

If you get online right at the 7 month mark, I think you have a pretty good chance of getting into most resorts. Perhaps not the popular room categories (AKV value, BWV standard or BW view, BLT standard), but you should be able to get the others. If not, you can always WL. Since there is really nothing going on that first week June, there is less of a draw for DVC members, like during F&W and F&G.

DIS user drusba is the availability guru and hopefully will chime in.

We're headed to WDW next week, first week of June. This is a good time because the points required are relatively low, and with some kids still being in school, you won't get the big bulk of the summer crowds.

If you're into Star Wars, you'd still catch some of the Star Wars Weekends. And while it is hot, it won't be as hot as late July/August.

I booked our resorts just a few weeks past the 7 month and was able to get BCV and BWV standard rooms.

The summer is not manically busy like October to December but it is a busy time for DVC. I would always book at 11 months to make sure you have somewhere but I would also expect to be able to change at 7 months if you change right at the 7 month mark. Yuo might have to accpet a split stya depending on where you want and you will not be able to leave it too long after 7 months opens but you shouldn't always be stuck at your home resort.

We bought a home resort we wouldn't mind being stuck at. Resort hopping to us is a bonus. you could of course split your points and buy two home resorts and book a split stay at 11 months. If i knew then what i know now that is probably what I would have done.

Taken to its most simple level for reserving at 7 months out, DVC has two demand seasons:

1. Tuesday after Marathon weekend in Jan to just before the end of Sep during which it is fairly easy to get a near park resort such as BLT, BWV, and even BCV, at 7 months out and that includes during all the holidays during that period.

2. Late Sep to the Tuesday after Marathon weekend in Jan, when it ranges from difficult to impossible to get a near park resort at 7 months out except for some easy times the week before the week Thanksgiving is in, the third week of Dec, and Jan 4 to the Wed before Marathon weekend.

You also have certain categories of rooms that can be difficult to get at 7 months out a large portion of the year: AKV value and concierge, BWV standard and boardwalk view, BLT standard view, BWV GVs, and OKW GVs near the Hospitality House.

We're leaving tomorrow (6/1) and were able to get BLT standard view studio at 7 months, actually I think it was less than 7 months, with our SSR points. BCV was available too. I think pretty much everything was, except concierge and value at AK. I think GFV will be harder to book at 7 months but not impossible, especially if willing to waitlist a few days.

If you go every year, maybe consider splitting the points between 2 home resorts. So if you need 200pts per June stay, buy 100 at AKV and 100 at SSR (or where ever you prefer), then alternate between the two every other year by banking/borrowing.
