DVC Reservations in DECEMBER, Which Week is Easier to Get

I love going to Disney in December, and I know I should be booking in advance.

I have gone twice in December, near the first week and find that sometimes DVC is so over booked. I usually try to go at least 10 days after Thanksgiving is over.

Is there any week in December that has less DVC reservation trouble and/or a little less Park crowds? I have found that the DVC reservations seem more crowded in DECEMBER than the PARKS themselves.

Dreaming of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party again !

My ultimate dream is they would bring back a limited run of the Tapestry of Nations Parade at EPCOT or at another DISNEY PARK ! Still singing WAYLA! Can't get that tune out of my head !

Thanks

Phil

The first two weeks in December are probably the most popular for members because:
  1. It's a low point season for DVC reservations
  2. The park crowds are a littler lower
  3. The Christmas season is in full swing and all decorations are up

The rest of December is also heavily booked but the points are higher and the crowds are definitely higher.

If you wanted New Year's Eve you're probably too late. That's THE most popular night to book probably for all of DVC.

I've gone every year during early December since 1998. I've booked my home (BWV) day by day at the 11 month window every time. Have not found a significant difference between the first and second weeks of December (or the last week in November when Thanksgiving is early) as far as crowds or DVC reservations are concerned. As you say, park crowds are light and DVC reservations are difficult to get if you don't book early!

Best wishes -

We love that time of year too, but we always book it 11 months out. We are going for NYE this year, and I had no trouble changing room types at the 9 month mark.

We just booked our home resort for a 1BR this past week for 5 days beginning Dec 4. Best of luck.

I'm sure DVC hopes that one other reason is that members may want to come to the annual meeting, which is usually the week after Thanksgiving(I remember the year I went, some members were VERY vocal about their desire to make the meetings).

Really Carol?
Like you, we've been there for years during some part of the first 3 weeks of December.
It's seemed to me that over the past few years (between the DIS gatherings and MouseFest etc..) that the crowds have dropped drop once all the internet groups leave.

Maybe it's just seemed more pronouced to me due to the impact 9-11 has had on attendence? :confused3

Or maybe we are just better at avoiding the places the "internet people" frequent. Who would want to spend time with them anyway??? ;);) :teeth: :rotfl2:

That was one of my favorite parades.....the music, the costumes, everything!! In Downtown Disney you can buy a Tapestry of Dreams CD with all the songs on it......One of my favorite CD's!

Rich Ayers

Thanks Everyone for your Feedback

For Rich Ayers: I too have the CD of the Millenium Music, including the Tapestry of Nations "WAYLA" song.

I listen to it in the car and pretend I am at EPCOT again, and the parade is still there, and the Millenium Village is still open.

If you are thinking about booking now for December, be forewarned that most everything is booked now for all sizes of rooms until around 12/8. I am renting points now, and there is nothing available for that period of time. Most newbies are shocked to find out that early December is so popular. In fact, most newbies want BC or BW standard within the next month or so, and are shocked when they find out it isn't available.
