DVC Reservation using Points and Cash

I have a question about using points and cash to make a reservation at SSR. I plan on going next year and I will not have enough points to make the full week. I will use cash for the remainder. My question is: Will they use all of my points toward the reservation then give me a total for the cash? Do they take points for whole days only then cash for the other whole days? Will there be 2 separate reservations (1 for cash and 1 for points)? Any help is appreciated.

You will have two reservations, but they can be linked if you make the cash reservation through MS. You will have to use points for whole days only. Then ask for cash nights for the rest of the nights. If the reservation is linked, it will be like one continuous reservation on points.

If you will be staying any weekend nights, I'd pay cash for those to save some points. As mentioned, you can't combine points and cash for a single night - so reserve as many nights using your points as possible and then use cash for the remainder.

I totally agree with WebmasterDoc. We are doing this same type of reservation in July. We are using our points for our mid-week nights and paying cash for our weekend nights.

Also, make sure that you ask if there are DVC member discounts for your cash nights. When we first booked, there were no DVC discounts available for SSR so we were paying rack rate. However, I kept checking back with MS and sure enough, we are now getting a 25% discount from the rack rate for our weekend nights.

You will have two different reservations, but they will be linked together so you do not have to change rooms.

hi. we also using points and cash for our first home resort visit in June at SSR. We booked with MS for 5 nights using our points and the 6th night is with cash b/c we did not have enough points for a 1 BR. I would pay cash for the nights why you will have to use the most points.
