DVC rental?

I'm hoping someone can answer my question about booking DVC points through a broker site? I've tried googling but can't seem to find a definite answer!

I've been crunching some numbers for our next trip, planning on October 2015.

I'm waiting/hoping for a deal to be released at the end of the month (I'm keeping my fingers crossed for free dining!), but have also been looking at renting DVC points (if we book with Disney we are thinking Caribbean Beach or if we go DVC then the Broadwalk instead).

Does anyone know if I can book DVC rental points this far out (I know DVC owners can book 11 months out at their home resort), but I don't know if the rental service would have any way of guaranteeing a booking more than 11 months out?

I'm a bit nervous that if I have to wait until the 11 month window I might not get what I want (F&W will be on so Broadwalk could be popular!) And that I might end up missing out on this summers deals if I have to wait.

Hope this all makes sense. I think I'm going to need a holiday to recover from the planning of this holiday!

As I understand it, the rental service cannot book any further than 11 months out. They are effectively a broker, they 'buy' points from owners and then rent them out. The owners get a lower rate than if they rented direct but don't have the hassle; similarly the renter pays a higher rate than if renting direct but have the security and convenience of dealing with the broker rather than with an owner.

So bookings can only be made according to the same 11 (or 7) month rules, depending on the home resort of the owner the points have been 'bought' from. Availability depends on whether the rental service can obtain the number of points that you need.

I believe that one of the brokers accepts applications from 12 months in advance of check-in date, but still can't make bookings until 11 (or 7) months ahead.

No definitely 11 months I'm afraid. Im a member and I do not think they would give a benefit of booking before dvc members to out side agencies. When we looked at boardwalk in the october time there was some availability but depends what size room u want and location. I do not own there and have to wait for the 7 month window. Beach club always goes first. If you can find a private renter who owns at boardwalk you should get in. An agent should be able to as well. Good luck. Its a lot cheaper to rent dvc at the boardwalk than pay through wdw believe me. U would not get free dining though.

I am a DVC member, my home resort is AKL and i managed to book the Boardwalk at 7 months with no problem :thumbsup2

Yes, the brokers all get their points from DVC members who can't or won't use their allocation that year so it's 11 months at the earliest.

DisneyNurse, was that in October? October is PREMIUM time at the Boardwalk for DVC due to the Food and Wine Festival. I have successfully booked rooms there myself within 7 month window (shame on me as I actually own there but I can never make a decision about my dates that far out), but it's normally a 1 Bedroom which is easier to book than a Studio.

It can be done, but it often means checking availability every day as there will be frequently sold out nights (usually weekends).

OP, if you are looking to rent points for Boardwalk Villas in October, I would highly recommend that you start looking as early as 12 months for a renter as BWV books up very quickly at that time, due to the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot. I have 5 nights booked at BWV for this October but it took me almost a week of trying every day as soon as the booking window opened (7 months out) to get 5 nights in a row.
