Dvc rental store

I just checked the dvcrental store and they seem to pay $16 pp and not $13 for reservation 0-7 months out. They also pay $18 for 7-11 month reservations. They have a calculator for owners.

I think the key word on that page is, enter your information, and we'll tell you how much you "CAN" earn by renting out your points. I just logged in to my owner account (which any owner can create - you don't actually have to commit to renting your points out), and still just $13/point for any reservation that doesn't require home resort priority.

For home resort priority booking, there is a range - as low as $14/point for HHI, as high as $19/point for BCV/CFW. Looks like most others (VDH/VGC/BWV/Poly) are $18/point - VGF/BRV at $17/point; AUL/BLT/CCV at $16/point; SSR at $15/point. Don't see any OKW/RIV/AKL/VB requests right now that require priority booking, so not sure what they'd pay for those.

Apparently, they price quite dynamically.

So basically they just try to lure you in and once in you are screwed or you don’t get to rent your points.

Yeah, basically. Haha. That said, it takes all of 2 minutes to create an owner account, and you don't even have to tell them anything about what points you own to see everything. So, they're not hiding the ball too much. Still, definitely not as transparent as dvcrequest.com appears to be.

What they say on the front facing website is different from the reality when you login to actually rent your points.

They have some BCV and CFW at $19 and only PVB and VGC were at $18 everything else at 11 months including VGF was $17 or less.

The majority are $13 a point even some of what is marketing as "most desirable" in the 7-11 month window paying that price.

You can supposedly list it as a confirmed reservation and set your price to a max of $20 which could be seen as commercial renting since you are most likely using your 11 month window to secure sought out reservations.

Commercial renting has nothing do to with the price you set. At least not according to DVC as pricing is not listed as a determining factor when it comes to the commercial use policy.

What you and I can agree on is whole other story.

I agree however others don't.

I was just pointing out earlier how it could be seen as commercial renting but that there is a whole other thread for that.

For me, I sort of look at it like, well, I wouldn't mind doing a point swap with dvcrentalstore.com for a Disney cruise, but then I see the way to maximize my trade-in is going to be to post some confirmed reservations and list them for $20/point. Otherwise, I'm going be subject to the whims of their dynamic pricing and waiting for the 7-11 month booking requests at my home resorts to come along. And, if I do that, of course the best way to maximize my chances of those confirmed reservations being taken quickly are going to be to getting some December reservations in some deluxe studios. I don't personally like doing that - I would personally feel completely comfortable that I'm not within Disney's definition of commercial, but I also don't particularly like the practice.

TBH, I think I'm almost leaning toward renting out my points privately when/if I decide to do it. Not really thinking about doing this before 2027, so not sure, but it is very interesting learning about all of this.

I agree that that's the best strategy. Plus , if you are renting out your points yourself, you can book the cruise with any TA of your choice and lots of the smaller ones offer OBC. Plus, it's just nice to always communicate with the same person.
