Heading home foe easter.
Rental cars are very expensive this year.
Anyone advise what if any discounts DVC members get?
Any one have any codes or coupons??

DVC used to have a discount contract with National/Alamo perhaps they still do. Either way, I think you had to book the car through Member Services to get the discount. Sometimes the discount was better than those available through other sources, like club memberships and professional groups, but usually not.

The last time we went, we combined a couple of codes from mousesavers.com and found Alamo to be the cheapest. We took ME to Disney, then picked up the rental the next morning at the Car Care Center (saved 1 days rental fee). The Alamo bus picked up at the resort hourly, and off we went

The Dolphin has an Alamo counter with cars on site. I've found that rates are significantly less on the Alamo website if you say you are picking up at Dolphin rather than the car care center.

Thanks

Almost seems too good to be true.

You're welcome.
That's why I call it the "Magic Code!" I've used it for several trips during 2008 and it has saved me a bundle on all of them.

Wow. That's a long thread. Which code is the magic code?

Priceline is also great for rental cars. I don't use them for anything else but I have used them twice for rental cars. Last May in Orlando we got a minivan for under $25/day!

If you decide to pick up a car at the Dolphin be aware that the Alamo desk closes at 4pm at least on Sunday. We had arranged to pick up a car there and were delayed getting there to pick it up until after 4pm and could not get the car. We ended up going over to the Car Care Center and they were very nice about providing us with a car but warned us that they were under no obligation to honor the price on our contract, but did so as a courtesy.

Read the first post in the thread and use those codes.
Oh, ok...thank you. I was looking for the words "magic code".

Darn...code doesn't work for me. Oh well...I did get a code on Mousesavers that brought the cost down quite a bit, but always looking for a better deal! :)

Use the number that starts with 8 as the membership number and try different coupon codes with that. I don't think I've heard of anyone that wasn't able to use the membership number. The number saves money AND includes the added insurance that you would normally pay a lot extra for.

Nope, not working for me. I'm running into the same problem I had before, not being able to use coupons...we're not staying over a Saturday night (so no weekend coupons) and we're not staying 5 days for more ( 4 days 9 hours, so no weekly coupons).

I'll keep trying things between now and our trip, so thanks again for the link to the thread. :thumbsup2 For now, I'm generally happy with the rate we got with the Dollar "kiss" code.
