DVC Rental and DDP?

We'll be arriving at BVV next Sunday, woohoo!! I have rented enough points for Mom & Dad to have a studio, and we have our own room (DH, DS11, DS14 and I). I had originally signed up for DDP for all of us. But, after much deliberation, I just can't see it working for us. My kids are very picky and are only going to eat the 'kid' stuff anyway. Plus, DH and I are really trying to looooooooose weight. I don't need any extra temptation to have that appetizer or dessert!

Anyhow, I still think it would be great for my mom & dad to keep the plan. My question is: Can they keep the plan and we drop the plan, even though the ressies are both in my name? Is that considered the same 'party'? Or, is DVC different?

Thanks!!!!

We are DVC members and I called DVC member services with a similar question. We are getting a 2 BR for us and DBIL and his family in June. We all want the DDP. DMIL & DFIL were going to maybe need a place to stay (they are planning on renting a house offsite for other DBIL and his family, DSIL was iffy on the trip, so it would be silly for DMIL & DFIL to have a big 'ol house for just the 2 of them) and weren't interested in DDP. Anyway, I was told that even though the reservations would both be in my name, they are two separate units (2 BR and a studio), and the "everyone must be on the DDP" rule means everyone in that unit. So, it would be fine to have the occupants of one unit on DDP and the occupants of the other not be on DDP.

You are going to have to make whatever modifications you need through the DVC owner you rented from. Those arrangements have to be made through Member Services and as of August 1, they will no longer accept phone calls from non-members.

I also think you are going to have to check the particulars of your reservations.

If it is all ONE reservation (for multiple rooms), I think you will need to have everybody or nobody on the DDP. However, if the ressies are seperate...you may be able to have some on and some not. It's the way the ressies are done that's the key -- not the rooms.

At this late date, I think it's extremely unlikely that you will be able to change the ressies in any way, but you will be able to change the DDP if you need to.

The only way to be sure is to have the owner call MS for you -- and since that may require some communication back and forth, and some decisions to be made by you, it would probably be a good idea to do a conference call with MS. That way, nothing will get lost in the translation between MS, the owner, and you.

Have a great trip!

We are renting points for our stay next year. I understand the points owner must make the arrangements for the DDP. My questions: How does Disney handle the billing? Do they put it on your bill to pay when you check in? Can you pay ahead of time? Is there a deposit due when booking the DDP?

I hope I didn't miss this somewhere else. Thanks.

After some research I have discovered that Disney will allow me to pay at check in. I, however, would like to pay in advance. Is this possible?

at this time no.

If you are staying at a DVC resort on DVC points your only option is to pay for your DDP at check-in.

We had rented points through a DVC member and had an additional person that was travelling seperately on the reservation. Are we able to pay for all on DDP at check-in or must we wait for additional party member to pay for theirs? Thank you for any help. HAPPY TURKEY DAY!

The only time they required folks to wait until their entire party arrived to get the Dining Plan activated for all was during the free dining period, for folks on the free Dining Plan (which DVC points aren't eligible for) and even then it was only children they were worried about. You should have no problem checking in for your entire party, even if one has not yet arrived.
