DVC Promotion And Another Question

Are there any incentives right now (Jan. 2006) to buy DVC - like reduced price per point?

Also, let's say we buy 300 points, we can use them any way we want, right? Like book 2 studios at BCV for a week for me and DH and the kids and the other one for my parents?

We want to buy at Saratoga Springs to get the most years. But we can use our points anywhere, right?

Also, how often do you pay cash for other resorts to avoid the big point amounts on the weekends? I was telling my mom that I'd pay for 2 nights at the Polynesian before our stay on points to be able to save points for another trip in the same year.

Am I making sense?

We're closer than we've ever been to actually going ahead and buying into DVC. I hope it comes to pass this time!

yes - until Feb - if you have a member name - you can get a 15% discount.

I would not buy 300 points. I would buy 150 points. see how you like it - then add 50 contract and then 100 contract....

or buy two 150 contracts. easily to sell if you have too....

availability is the key word. if there is availability at other resorts you can definitely get more than one villa/studio.

Yes there is an incentive right now called frineds and family.If you are referred by a member then you recieve 15% off at SSR.
You can use your points anywhere but cannot book till 7 months from your vacation except at SSR then you can book 11 months out.
We pay cash over the weekends for other resorts to save points.
If you need a referral just let me know.It iends Feb 1st

I think there is something about NJ and referrals.....I don't know if you can't get a referral or you can't give your name as a referral. I know years ago iI tried to refer some one and you were not allowed to. Do you NJ people know.

My fiance's parents lived in NJ when we purchased DVC we used them as a referral. They still got their "bonus" and split it with us. I don't know if that was supposed to happen or not, but it did.

They must have change the rules. A few years back when I went to the DVC site they wouldn't let me enter the info for someone in NJ. Maybe they weren't allowed to send stuff to someone without them requesting it. Maybe if you ask for info and then just have there name that is OK. I was asking them to send info(a DVC package) and they couldn't do that. I think it was a law in NJ because of all the shaddy timeshares contacting people.

My mom is actually the one that will make the purchase. We want the 300 points because she's using this to take herself and my dad plus me, DH and my kids every year. We will need at lease 2 studios or a 2 bedroom villa. We only can go in summer b/c mom and I are both teachers. We like to go for 10 days - and we may consider paying cash for other resorts on the weekends. But she likes the idea of being able to take all of us every year and only worry about air, tix and food.

It turns out that she is very good friends with someone who owns DVC - I just found that out when I told her about the promotion! I had no idea!

Well, we bought into DVC in '04. Did you try it before or after that?

Yes it was before that maybe they must have changed it. I went to the site today and there doesn't seem to be any restrictions on the state you can send info too although I didn't actually fill the form out. Back then I remember a big warning came up when I tried to enter their name???? glad it changed it seemed silly but I also remember it saying they were restricted from sending them material. Its not that they couldn't buy you just couldn't refer them. Thanks for your imput. Carol
