We are thinking perhaps of doing the DVC presentation on our next visit since we are possibly thinking about joining? Does Disney "give" you anything for doing the presentation like some other time shares do? Just wondering..it won't make a difference as to whether or not we go ahead and learn more but we were curious. Thanks!

The DVC sales presentation is quite different from anything which you've experienced before. NO HARD SELL. Really a soft sell with provision of information. Years ago, I recall that they offered a discount on WDW reservations if you toured, but that incentive has not been in place at least since '97. I think that Disney does offer you a better financing package if you choose to buy within 30 days rather than later.

However, unless you're in love with VWL or BC, you'd be much better served taking the tour and THEN buying a resale. That's what we did. We appreciated the time which our guide provided to us and subsequently bought some add-ons through her years later.

One thing you'll surely get is Disney hospitality...

By all means, go on the presentation, ask all your questions, that's what they're there for.

One thing they do is make it convenient for you to get to their presentation / office. Just stop by any kiosk (be in at a park or in any of the resorts) and they'll make arrangements for picking you up via DVC shuttle van.

Good Luck.

We purchased a long time ago and took the tour even longer ago, but they gave us ice cream sundaes (make your own kind) and had a play room for the kids etc. I don't think those things are available anymore though.

Yes the playroom for kids is still there. My DS used it in Oct.
And MIL, DS, DH and myself all got a free lunch - appetizer, main meal, drink and dessert. There was quite a list of where this voucher could be used. We went back to the WL and used ours at Roaring Forks. I believe they were all counter service places, not sitdowns. But it came out to about $50 we didnt need to spend on lunch.

We got Fast Pass's for two rides of our choice (Dec 00). We chose TT & ToT. Other's have gotten a meal.

Dear Coloradomom

The presentation is very soft sell and they sometimes will give you a small token of appreciations if you buy but it is usually not their style. Kids are taken care of so you can view the property without interruptions. It is a nice touch and they do it up right.

I sent you a specific Colorado message so if you click on the PM you can pick it up.

Good luck

Ed

I guess we were lucky. We did tour less than 1 month after 9/11. We didnt buy into DVC until a month after our tour - Nov. They still gave each of us a voucher for lunch even though we didnt buy on the spot.

We were there in October 2001, and they gave us the lunch thing. I think we used it over in MGM. Our 15 month old was given a little DVC football. He still plays with it today. We did purchase on site after debating with members on this board for a few months. Thank you.

We talked to Diane Henry at DVC. She was the best. No pushy salespeople there. For listening to their presentation and checking out various resort rooms, we (my DH and I) received 2 fast passes each.

We bought from DIana Henry, she is great. We went to our presentation told her after about 30 minutes we needed to talk it over; so she gave us our lunch vouchers and we set off for the Big River Grill. Returned 2 hours later and bought twice the points we had planned on. Everytime we are at the BWV she calls to see how we're enjoying our points.

We got lunch. When I made the appt, the woman told us that it would be a voucher for ESPN club. By the time we were finished with the tour, the only place that it was still valid at was Big River Grill, which was OK.

My kids went to the play area while we did the tour, and they said there were cookies there, but no one offered them any, and they would never take any without being asked.

We did the presentation and bought into DVC this past Thanksgiving week. We were not offered anything and my DH even asked if there were any perks given. I guess it depends on what CM you get.......oh well

I guess our "perk" is DVC for the next 40 years........

Who say's there's no "FREE LUNCH"? We got a coupon for a free lunch on the Boardwalk. They didn't offer it right away. We just stopped at the DVC stand and inquired one day. My son was ill so we didn't go into any parks for a few days so we didn't want to "waste" our time with the presentation. We weren't going to go but they left a message on our voice mail that they would offer us a free lunch if we took the presentation. My son was still not 100% but well enough to leave the room so we decided to go for it.
I was expecting some finger sandwiches or something like that but they gave us a coupon and told us to discuss it over lunch at any of the restaurants on the BW. (BTW we ate at the Big River Brewery) It was very nice.
Let me warn you... It's not a hard sell because it doesn't have to be. If you love Disney, you'll want to join. While in the van that picked us up for the presentation, I said to my wife "don't think we're buying this thing". During the presentation I started thinking"this sounds pretty good". During lunch I briefly crunched the numbers and said "I think this is a great deal for us". Can you say "180"? We went back after lunch and signed on the dotted line and haven't had a regret yet.
I would go to the stand and give them your name and room and play hard to get. They'll offer you something to get you to see it.

We joined at HH in August. We went knowing we were going to buy. They have a program they call Magical beginnings if you decide within 30 days that gives you a better interest rate if you finance and they will buy back you first year of points at $10.00 a point as a down payment. Then we were given $100.00 in food vouchers to use at the resort and local resturants, which we were told we would have gotten even if we didn't join.
