DVC potential newbie

This page is open without a login. This gives you some idea of what 60-day availability looks like. 90 isn't much better, and, frankly, in some seasons is far worse.

And just to add on to this, the website in the link is a snapshot in time (last updated on July 30 as I write this). A lot can change in just a day, let alone nearly a week! But as you can see from that page, there's not a lot available on short notice. You definitely won't be looking at the castle from a Grand Floridian villa if you only have 1 month to book your arrangements. You will be staying at SSR and OKW and may even have to change resorts or views just to cobble together a week's stay (if you're lucky).

As appealing as it all sounds, DVC is not a good fit for your family at this time.

FWIW, once a room is inside 60 days and unbooked, DVC consider it "breakage," and that's what that page is listing. It can be booked cash or points, but it is basically everything available for the 60 days, taken as a weekly snapshot. It changes daily what is actually out there, which is to say that's the most optimistic view. At 30 days sometimes things can be fluid as people cancel before their points would hit holding after a cancel, but many people also kill their waitlists around that time. But when I say fluid, I don't mean it's a regular treasure trove of awesome options.

So to make any kind of claims about availability at 90-60 days is complete poo by a guide. The system isn't set up to give regular satisfaction to people booking last minute, unless by "satisfaction" you mean "feel lucky if they get anything."
