Was wondering......I understand you can use DVC points toward the Disney cruise line now. Is it possible to rent points for a disney cruise? And does anyone have any idea as to how many points are required?

I rented points last year from a person here for the BCV and enjoyed a nice vacation cheaper than we could have if we booked directly and wondered if the same would apply to a cruise. Would a cruise be cheaper by renting points?

Thanks for any input.....

No, a DCL cruise on points is actually more expensive than paying cash. You see many DVC members renting out their points to pay for a cruise, and have money left over!!! If you want to cruise on DCL, book directly with them or through a TA, it will be MUCH cheaper that way.

Hi,

I did what Lori mentioned!! Called DCL & got a $700 early booking discount (not going until May 2005). It was the cheapiest I could find. You might look into renting points for a short trip before or after your cruise!! Good luck!!!

Does anyone have a website that shows how many points you need for the DCL. It seems to me that you could use points for one person and pay for the other.

You have to book one person on points and pay cash for the rest. The only problem with that is that DVC has specially negotiated rates with DCL, and they are almost always higher than the a lot of the lowest rates offered by DCL directly. The point charts for DCL can be found on the DVC member site.

You could pay one adult on points and the rest cash. You are then paying the negotiated cash price through DVC. That is usually significantly more than the advance booking price one can get through DCL or it's preferred sellers. In additiion one would lose out on most options if the price were to go down, would have to pay the entire amount up front and would have considerably less cancellation or change options. There are few times when paying for one with points and the rest cash or reasonable options, IMO. I'd far rather rent my points and have all the options, even if it were the same price.

Forgot to add that I can send you a pdf of the cruise exchange points. Just send me an email and I can send the attachment.
