I let my brother use our points at OKW last week, and loaned him one of our DVC pins, too. He said that the pin attracted plenty of attention wherever he went. He got lots of offers for it, including a serious offer of $300 from someone! Tom said he considered "losing" the pin that time.

If someone offers me $300.00 for my pin I say SHOW ME THE MONEY ! That equates to 4 pts at VWL.

:) I was at BWV last week and I got lots of questions on where I got them and cast members kidding me about trading with them. Finally part way thru the week pins started appearing at the pin stations and I got 2 for my kids. ( I wouldn't let them have mine!!! I was afraid they would lose it!) One cast member pointed out that our DVC pins have 13 stripes and smaller stars, my kids pins have fewer stripes and stars. The were selling like hotcakes at the pin stations and often had a limit of 2 purchased per person! Now our family has 2 of each kind! But no one actually offered me money.........don't think I could part with mine anyway!

Found out last Friday that a friend of mine (DVC member at OKW) actually THREW THE DVC FLAG PINS OUT! I couldn't believe it! I'm not a pin collector, but I really love those DVC flag pins. Sure wish I'd known that she didn't want them. Told her from now on, I'd gladly PAY her for any DVC pins she may receive. Even though they've been DVC members longer than we have, they really aren't Disney fanatics. I think they mostly use DVC to trade out. They're going to Kohler, WI for Thanksgiving because they have points to use up. I think they're going to sell sometime soon.

I tell you what... I know that this is very petty on my part, but I am SO disappointed to have not gotten these pins! I know that there are MUCH more important things going on in the world, but I feel REALLY left out to have not gotten these.

Why did they send out TWO per membership if they weren't going to have enough in reserves to send out to those members who's pins were "apparently" lost in the mail?!?

Of course - I haven't gotten my guidebook yet, either - but I'm not worried about that - I know I'll get one, eventually. I called on November 1st, as they instructed, and asked them to send mine again - and I "still" haven't gotten it.

But I've pretty much given up on the pins.... Bummer.

FWIW - I've been a member since 5/97, have added on twice - and have NEVER had a problem with receiving DVC mailouts on a timely basis - my annual meeting notices have all come in when everyone else's have. Don't know why I got "overlooked" on these two items....

I was Christmas shopping Saturday and the woman who helped me had a pin. Great way to spot fellow DVCers.

Beth,

They only sent out one card of pins per member. The format of the card had two pins attached to it. I'm really sorry you were left out or that your pins got lost. I'd be bummed, too.

I appreciate your sympathy, Doctor P.

I'm watching those auctions on eBay - but I just can't bring myself to pay $30 for a pin that I should have received for free!

Oh well - life goes on.......

I guess I'm a true fanatic because it's hard for me to comprehend someone not treasuring these pins. Throwing them away is beyond belief, but not far behind is selling them on ebay. I do believe some people would sell their grandmother's dentures while she still needed them for a buck.

Beth, you are not alone. I have received neither of those things myself....but of course I did receive the VWL sell out letter and my BWV annual meeting notice.

Perhaps our pins and guidebooks were tainted with anthrax and had to be destroyed?

never got mine either!!! of course tons of our mail is still at the main post office!

when were they sent out?

I just noticed that there are lots of really neat american pins and one very similar to the our dvc pin for sale in the Disney Catalog. I remember when I was at the parks in the end of Oct - all the stands were constantly out of them, and the people working the carts were keeping track on paper how many times they were asked if they carried the american mickey ears pin. So many people stopped me and asked me where I got mine. So -- check out the Disney Catalog for a very cool selection!

Regis and Kelly are at MGM Studios this week. In a Good Morning America segment on Walt's birthday, Joel Segal was talking to Michael Eisner. Mr. Eisner was wearing the Disney Store version of the Mickey Ears.

My sister recieved her pins and I didn't get mine or my member guidebook.. I felt left out too, so I emailed member services and recieved my member guidebook and the pins within a week and a half!:)

I just placed on order at Disneystore.com for this pin. I have the heart version (below) of it, and I just had to have this one. So cool. I also ordered the new, version 2, of the Walt Disney World Explorer CD. I'd bought version several years ago and I've been on the lookout for version 2.

We're new DVC members and didn't receive the pins either. :( Oh, well, I guess we're low man on the totem pole.

Barb - When did you join DVC? Supposedly all members in the United States who were members before September 11th should have received the pins. I heard this from a DVC CM during DIScon.

bad news folks...

We received our pins, but my mother (who also owns some points) did not. When we were at WDW in December, we stopped by the boardwalk DVC center to ask when she should get the pins.

Well, apparently, if you have not gotten pins by this point, THEY ARE NOT COMING! The reason is that DVC ordered these pins on their own and sent out the first batch. But then the higher-ups within Disney refused to approve the idea because of the Sept 11 inscription on the back. The cast member we talked to did not know why they refused to approve the idea.

So no more of the pins have been sent. There must be a bulk supply of them left sitting around somewhere, which would explain why so many floridians are selling them by the dozens on e-bay.

Incidently, we did buy 2 from e-bay ($32 for two of them) so that my mother would get her two pins as a Christmas present from us.

Sorry to bring the bad news everyone.....
