I was thinking would it not make since to give DVC members T-shirts or hats, so we could advertise for them. I don't think it makes any sense to pay 30 for a T-shirt and 100 for a jacket. Considering we already pay a lot in dues.

If you go to one of the Member Wednesday events, you will get a hat (or some other DVC item).

We went to that, and we got a bag of popcorn and some lemonade, and more DVC stickers. They gave a few people pins, but we did not stay long our daughter was bored.

We each got a DVC hat on the way out (after it was over). Maybe you left too soon.

Probably so I guess it does not really matter. Just thought it would be a good marketing tool for them. When I tell people around here that we are members they think that means when you go to WDW you will automaticaly be a member.

While I do not need them to give me a t-shirt or jacket for free, I would like something that at least looks nice for that price. The DVC wear is really lackluster compared to the Wilderness Lodge and other resort clothing:confused3 . I think they should get some DVC resort specific wear that is at least in keeping with the style of the resort wear. Then I may consider buying something DVC - now I just run around in my Wilderness Lodge resort wear and Mickey tees.

We totally agree - on our last trip to SSR we actually tried to buy 'DVC Gear' - but the selection was limited at best and what they did have the prices were too high.

I think it was even 8 bucks for a little white DVC sticker for the back window of your car....

My opinion - there should be an online DVC store within the DVC members website for online ordering.....with prices comparable to mainstream prices - not over the top - just because its Disney prices.....they need to think out of the box...and consider it free advertising.

I agree! The DVC gears are too pricey. What do they think we are? Tourists going there once in our life time?? Consider it's actually advertising wearing their logo gears, at least they should give us a discount with our member ID.

I did notice more gear in the AK gift shop in December, more than what was there in April. We just took a cruise and boy we got all kinds of goodies from DVC! If you go to the kiosks in the parks sometimes they will give you resort pins if you ask for them:lovestruc I do agree with the member discount for shop gear!:thumbsup2

When I first read the original post, I was like "Right! They should lower the prices for DVC shirts - or give them away!!!!" My reasoning was that the shirts are essentially advertising. But, then again, as I thought about it, isn't any Disney shirt an advertisement? Isn't the guy wearing a Polynesian shirt advertising for Disney?

Yet considering they are apparently dying to get people to sign up for DVC - as evidenced by the amount of kiosks all over the place - perhaps there is some validity to the original argument. I would proudly wear a DVC shirt, though not if it cost me $30.

they already have us...thats what my DH always says...they dont have to offer DVC anything cause they are already getting our money :confused3

while i'd like to be able to have more of an upscale selection to choose from (especially like the idea of an on-line store:thumbsup2 ); i'd hate to see any portion of my dues going toward cost of complimentary t-shirts:confused3 However, it would funded by DVCs marketing budget, i'd be happy to accept one lol

I love the idea of a members only store, with jackets and maybe special ponchos? And we could keep them in our Owners Lockers and proudly wear them! It could be accessed where we have to sign in now for our DVC info. Disney, are you listening?

I finally convinced DH to join DVC in September. I had a trip planned with just me and the kids in October, for Halloween. My birthday is also in October and DH gave me a $100 Disney GC and told me to buy some DVC stuff with it.:lovestruc

I was so disappointed with the selection of DVC merchandise at AKV. There was 1 jacket (the ONLY choice of outerwear), 1 style of polo shirt (very boring), and 2 colors (same design) of women's T-shirt. I also thought about the car sticker....but $8!? With my luck, it wouldn't even stick! :rotfl: I liked the luggage tags, but again, they were way overpriced and we'd only use them once a year. The mugs were OK....boring and nothing outstanding, plus I am not a coffee/hot beverage drinker so they really didn't appeal to me. I ended up getting one of those waterproof cases on a string to hold all of my cards and such. At least it has a practical use when I am on vacation and at home.

I agree with the PP's that said Disney needs some resort-specific DVC merchandise. I really wanted an Animal Kingdom Villas sweatshirt or jacket. Even a polo shirt would have been fine. A website for members only would be great! I'm sure that a lot of people would make use of it.

I hope that Disney is listening as I really would love some WLV - DVC wear. As it stands now, I think I have enough regular WL resort wear to last me for a week long vacation:rotfl: . I would also proudly wear my DVC - WLV wear while roaming around the neighborhood and the Palisades Mall on a Saturday afternoon. Disney - are you listening :confused3? CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?
