DVC ownership

Once again guys,much info,very much appreciated!!!Good to hear that you've experienced little difficulty booking (I guess people complain just to complain...who knows)Scratch...point well taken...you do have the next 50 years to enjoy the property to it's fullest!!!!I am dense...Upstate New York...makes a little more sense...my brain is full right now...busy studying for an exam on Sat. AM...that's my excuse and I am sticking to it!!!!So that gives me some more info to ponder over the next few days...and yes it would be nice to take a quick trip down to look again...but we do too much looking....this time it's about buying!!!!Thanks again guys!!!

Just to voice from the other side of the coin, we considered buying, but did not. Nothing against it, or people who buy it, but here's why it wasn't right for us:

• When I'm on vacation, I like to be on vacation (hotel room with maid). DVC has limited mousekeeping. I'm not the home away from home type.
• With the above point in mind, a comparison of resort rooms stays on points(I chose POR for the period we actually stayed from last year) turns out to be more expensive than one can usually get through codes and/or other discounts and it's more than the baseline investment in points as well.
• We like a lot of different types of vacations, including camping and roadtrips.
• I couldn't afford the membership, with my current travel twice a year vacation addiction.
• Because we're so far away, we tend to stay for at least 8 nights by the time we get to FLA.

For others, it's ideal, but the above reasons outline our decision to just go to WDW when we want to or when there's a good enough deal. Unless we come into some unexpected cash, we may even drive down and camp at FW next time (I'm thinking 2005, but we all want to do other things at the moment).
