DVC Onboarding Direct v. Resale Contracts

Over the years I've purchased a number of resale and direct contracts and one thing has always bugged me. Why are DVC direct contracts able to be posted so immediately to an account yet it takes weeks for a resale contract to be posted? The knee-jerk reaction is that Disney would, of course, prioritize direct purchases. Are the services for onboarding an account paid by dues? If so, how would management defend differential treatment to the use of those dues?

From what I was told, DVD has their own team of CMs who handle the creation of new accounts

The process to transfer from one owner to another owner is a longer process and a different team handles those.

When DVD creates new, they simply create it and load points. To transfer, they have to verify things, go to the current owners account, check things..how reservations that are still booked get caught…cancel that contract out..then create a new contract and new membership or add that to a membership. It is then passed off to a team within MS who is responsible for getting the points loaded. That is why the CMs who answer the phone cant do it on their own,…they have to reach out to the back office team who is responsible for loading points.

Not the answer people probably want but the answers I was able to get when I inquired about it.

As Sandi said-- It is likely a very different process. Creating a new account from scratch, as opposed to having to cancel an account, transfer the points, etc.

I could totally see this being the case. I mean, how many times have we seen recently where there were reservations on a contract that was sold and closed on? So many different things at play when transferring than selling fresh that require a manual review... just like buying a house. I'd rather just build a new one than take over someone else's cluster..... Much easier in the long run.
