DVC members shipping packages home

I don't see why you couldn't ship the items back to England. Next time you are there just ask.

Rox,
Wouldn't it be great to send our souvenirs right back to England instead of using up room in the case?

Not sure about customs and import duty and all that though.

Oh Yes! I would love to do this! I think I'll ask this question on the UK DVC boards and see if anybody has done this and what they were charged...

By looking at the other posts it looks like Disney prices their shipping by the cost of your purchases and not the weight.

I though $10.95 for some VERY light ornaments was expensive.

However, if you have a large plastic toy that you can't hall back on the plane and your child just had to have it I figure the shipping charges probably aren't too bad.

Looks like you do not want to ship after the fact though. Wow $159.00!

Regarding State sales tax, don't know about other states, but in Indiana you must pay state sales tax on any item you have shipped to you.

Don't know if other states are similar, but here we pay the sales tax, one way or the other.

Pennsylvania as the concept of a 'Use Tax'...same percentage as the sales tax (plus the extra 1% in Philadelphia). You are supposed to fill out the forms readily available on-line whenever you buy something mail-order or in Delaware and bring it into the Commonwealth.

I don't think they seriously expect to collect on it given that most people don't know about it, but it does give justification for taxing the heck out of you if you decide to buy a car or other big ticket item in Delaware.

One way or another, the Revenuer's will get you.

If we are going to buy a lot of things that we think we could find at world of disney, we wait until later in the trip and go to down town disney and get it there. I think we still get a discount there, but not as much as the amex one used to be. The thing is, it is a flat rate for shipping, no matter how much you buy, as long as you buy it all together in the same store. So if you buy it all at the same store, it gets shipped together, and the shipping cost is probably about what tax would be so it washes out.

How many points does it cost to stay at Grandma's house? Can I book my stay there at the 7-month window through MS or should I call Grandma direct? What's the scoop on refillable mugs at Grandma's house?
Still rolling on the ground laughing about his one....:rotfl:

I always ship my clothes and the like down before we travel. It saves me aggravation at the airport with checking bags. With 3 DS it is so much easier to keep a handle on things this way. Then when we leave we take our stuff back down the the front desk of the hotel and have it shipped back home. It is very easy and convienent. When I shipped my boxes to WDW is cost me roughly 40 dollars for 2 boxes. Then when we shipped it all back home it was a little more expensive, like 55 a box, but so worth it at the airport.
