DVC Member party on cruise?

We are going on our first DCL cruise 8/17/02. We are DVC members but booked our cruise through our travel agent. We paid for the cruise- we did not use our DVC points. I saw on a board somewhere that DVC members are invited to a members only party onboard with food, prizes etc. How do we find out about the party? Do we need to "sign up" before the cruise or will it be listed in the Navigators and we just show up? I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

On the 3/23/2002 Disney Magic cruise, the DVC member event was listed in the daily Navigator. You don't have to sign up in advance, nor do you have to be crusing on DVC points.

Quite frankly, it was a waste of time. Sure, they had some trivia questions and prizes, as well as a free drink and DVC baseball cap for all. But the trivia game was not particularly entertaining, enlightening, or well done. (I guess we were spoiled by other games that were presented by the talented cruise staff, who were much more skillful and entertaining than the DVC guides.)

Based on our experience, there's lots of room for DVC to improve their weekly DVC member party on the Disney Magic. As it now stands, I don't think we'd go again.

Unless you have something better to do, go and enjoy and you aren't forced to stay for the whole thing.

Trivia game with prizes? Guess it depends on the prizes, but maybe Horace is trying to decrease the competition at this event? In that case, I agree with him. Don't go - find much better things to do - go see a movie - soak up the sun - play bingo - find hidden mickeys. I know where I'll be

Thanks everybody for your info. I think we will check out the party. My DS12 and DS13 will get a kick out of any prizes and if it's not great we can always leave!
