DVC Member Cruise ~ August 24, 2015

Thanks so much! We are both looking forward to meeting everyone in a few months. Is it August yet?

I was reading through the thread and thought you all would get a laugh from our booking story. So we got the email that there were still spaces left on the boat...yea, we were talking about a lot of points, but my hubby has had a couple of hard years at work and we haven't had a vacation in two years (15 years since we have had it without kids) and he said call. So, I call...and get hung up on. Call back...wait 25 min...get a woman who had no clue they sent out the email and insisted it has been sold out for months. Finally convince her to ask because I read her the email, then she comes back to tell me about the available cabins when...wait for it...their fire alarms go off!!! She says we are having a fire drill and I have to hang up now, then drops me, after 45 minutes trying to get her to find the rooms! So, I keep hitting redial for the next 30 minutes, to get hung up on again!!! Immediately call back and into the cue for another 10 minute wait, explained the whole thing over again and how I was hung up on three times, when a very sweet girl named Valerie sat patiently through our conversation while I texted back and forth with DH for final approval of which cabin. It was frustrating, but exciting too. I mean, how often do you call DVC and end up with a fire drill? Only me. Seriously. So there's my funny.

Home resorts? Ours is Villas at Wilderness Lodge...my favorite place hands down.

Welcome!

I organize a Candy/Snack exchange in which folks give local or regional treats.

I am sure others who do regular FE's will chime in. I know I would join a "Disney Pin" exchange, if everyone would agree to give a new Disney pin, one per cabin, folks would tell their interests. I do enjoy collecting Disney pins. I always buy a Member Cruise pin, if they sell one. Last year, 2014, everyone got one as a gift.

OOOooo, we are big pin traders! Anyone want to do a mini pin trade session? I would be totally game. We keep and display a lot of the pins at home, but I have a itty bitty pin bag I keep fully stocked for trips. LOL.

Yes, I would be interested.

Congratulation on your booking, i think yours is the most interesting story!::yes::

Regarding a pin trade time....how about since "noon on the sea day" is a lunch meet up, suppose we meet there and after we eat look for a room to pin trade? Other suggestion?

Sounds great. We are far enough out that we haven't planned much yet. Do you have any favorites you collect? I can go through ours and keep any potentials aside. I am all about chip&dale, while hubby likes unusal or unique pins. We can firm up things closer to.
I like the crew pin event but it is also a chaotic free for all.
Anyone else interested? The more, the merrier!

I like DVC pins, including DVC resorts, DCL, Pooh and Gang, holidays, Figment, and Characters from Up! I will check for Chip & Dale!

I've had lots of fun in these private meet ups with other pin collectors. I do go to the officers pin trade and yes, it is a free for all!

We never really got into the pins. I have a special one I might have to wear. My former boss, his wife gave me a Minnie nurse one. I was still in school and didn't want to wear it until I was officially an RN! So now I can proudly wear it!

Bobbi, I'd been thinking of you this am and saying a prayer. So excited to see you posting!!!

Yeah! Even if that un edited post did not make sense.

Was visited by a chaplain a little while ago. That was appreciated. He was originally from Wisconsin, been in NJ for 2 years.

Interesing town names...how about " Egg Harbor Township?" That's where doctor's office is, very close to hospital in Pomona.

Do you have the weekend off! Pat?

I work days this weekend (but am off today) Bobbi. So glad you sound like you're doing well so far.

I am so glad you are doing so well! I have been thinking about you since yesterday! Glad you are feeling well enough to post! How long will you be in the hospital? That is a funny town name! I assume you will be starting your rehab immediately? I know they like to get things moving quickly. How are your new knees?

How are you? How is work? I have had a crazy busy week - something going on almost every night this week! I hate weeks like this - I can't get on the DIS and chat with my friends!
My furnace broke - how could it after 25 years? And for it to pick the one night this month I would need it! The nerve! Lucky for me - my neighbor does heating and cooling - he came by and got it working - he thinks it can be fixed and will only charge me for parts (he is so sweet) - and the best part - the part s/b around $40!!!!!! I sure hope that is the case! That way I don't have to replace the furnace until before next winter! And the quote I got for a new one was a LOT cheaper than I thought it would be - A lot cheaper! So that was some very good news. Also I tore my last contact yesterday morning! I hate wearing my glasses - and I can't see without them. I got lucky and they had one in stock I could purchase - I have an appt this Sat for my check-up and I know I will get stronger contacts - it couldn't wait a couple of days - not sure how I tore it - I really couldn't find a rip - but it didn't feel to good when I put it in. Just something silly that sucked up my morning!
I saw my first hummingbird of the season! He was so cute - solid purple looking! He looked like he was all purple. A very deep dark purple. Nice size one. I immediately put my feeders out - since it was going to get cold - I figured they would need the food. I hope I have more than I had last year - I only had 3 - I average 13 most years.
What are your plans this week-end? They are calling for storms = so I will be inside.

Hope you have a great Week-End.
Lynn

Oh my gosh Lynn, I can completely empathize with you. We are having a new heater installed on Monday. We were also surprised it was cheaper than we had planned so that is one good thing. The a/c we are replacing the motor instead of that entire unit as it isn't too bad (our heater has a crack somewhere inside, forget the technical info but it's can allow carbon monoxide to leak into the house).

I'm working all weekend, day shift though so not bad. We are having a cookout with our kids (and grandkids) tomorrow evening. Will be nice to get to spend a little time with them (they live two blocks away but schedules are crazy).

Glad you are doing well! Hope you have a speedy recovery so we can have a great time come August. I am already digging through our pins!
