Eight of us are staying beginning on Jan 22. 4 Adults and 4 kids. Being from the Northeast colds and viruses are the norm this time of year. Has anyone used the DVC insurance, and if someone gets sick is the insurance worth it or not. I would never expect we would have to cancel, but unfortunately sometimes these things can happen. Thanks is advance.

We are going on the 20th for 8 nights and have not ever gotten the insurance. However, I keep thinking our luck will probably run out one day. We get our flu shots each year and we all just had colds. FINGERS and TOES are crossed. Good luck to your family! Looks like we will be there at the same time. :rotfl2:

The insurance DVC offers through Travelex needs to be purchase more than 30 days prior to arrival. So you're already too late for that. You may be able to find other insurers on line which are still willing to assume the risk. Just make sure you read the policies VERY CAREFULLY and understand what is and is not covered. Don't simply assume that an insurer will "do the right thing"--as you see it--and reimburse regardless of circumstances.

We've never purchased insurance for a Disney trip and really I couldn't see myself doing it. When you add up the premiums we would have paid in nearly a decade of ownership, I suspect we will still come out ahead even if we suffer a loss someday.

Every trip is different and it may be worthwhile to consider insurance for some exotic destinations (international travel, long cruises, etc.) But as a general rule, I avoid it. Not a big plan of buying service contracts on appliances and electronics either. ;)
