How hard is it to book rooms at either BCV or BWV during the food and wine festival? I have never been to WDW during this time and I saw that Alan Wong and Paula Dean are going to be there. How I wish I was going! How far in advance do you know who the guest chefs will be. I am sure that it is too late for this year, right?

probably - someone says that all DVC resorts were filled for Oct.

but hey try on Monday - cancellation happen all the time.

The Food and Wine Festival is great. Hope you can make it. Be prepared to eat!

We looked to change our early Oct. trip to any other week in Oct. and I have been calling since about a month and a half ago. The availability 1BRs and studios is real sporadic. Maybe one day will be available, but there will be no continuing days. We instead chose to be wait-listed for our current resv. for an extra night at the beginning and end, and I am told the resort is sold out completely except for one night in the middle of our stay. We are at about the 40 day mark and nothing has come through so far. Sorry - forgot to mention this was all at BWV. I checked BCV from time to time as well and their availability was much worse. This is what we have found. I wish it was a different story!

Good luck!

We go every year in Oct (Fall break for school) and have never had problems getting a ressie at the 11 month window at BWV. That being said, I am not so sure that will be the case anymore if F&W has been extended into all of Oct (we always went right before F&W usually starts).

I'm not sure when they announced the dates for this years event, but I don't think it was until after we had made our reservations so we were able to make them this year with no problem.

I am starting to become concerned that it will be much harder to get the ressies I want because of the newly extended dates of F&W. I called MS in June to check on availability because we wanted to ask additional family members to come. At that time, there was only availablity at OKW, SSR and WLV. Nothing at BVW or BCV.

I would be interested to know if any other regular October "regulars" with similar concerns.

We tried to book BWV (our home resort) as soon as we became DVC members in April 2004. At that time, there was some availability at BWV and BCV but not enough for our entire stay so we have a 2 BR booked at OKW. Since we don't want to move between resorts during our stay, we are on the waitlist for the entire length of stay at either of the EPCOT resorts. My husband recently called MS to ask whether they could tell us where we were on the list. Her answer was something like "yes, she could see our name on the list but it didn't look good"!

Good luck on trying to snag something!

It's tougher to do at the 7 month window. Not as bad at the 11 month window. Obviously, due to thier proximity to Epcot, they are popular resorts during the F&W Festival. Give it a shot, get your name on a waitlist if nothing else. You never know!

Much to my amazement, earlier this week I was able to add a Saturday to my reservation for mid-October at VWL. We're going Oct. 16-25, for the food & wine and the FUNAI golf tournament. I was prepared to stay in another resort for cash on the Saturday (10/16) but MS had a night in a 1-bdrm (which is what my other reservation is for). The CM told me she had "modified" my current reservation. It was easy and now after reading the other post, have decided that I was pretty lucky also. Maybe it was available because it was a weekend night?

You'll never know unless you try! Give 'em a call tomorrow! If you're flexible you might find something.

I'm also hoping to get a reservation for a few days in late October or early November. I don't really care where we stay, but I think we will try Saratoga Springs first and go down the list from there. We've never been to the new resort, so we're anxious to check it out.

I'm gonna call first thing in the morning. I may have to piece the ressie together by staying different nights in different resorts, but as long as we have a room, I'll take it.

I know it's last minute, but there's an airfare sale going on from New Orleans to Orlando, we already have our park tickets, and we have $200.00 in Disney Dollars from a referral. It doesn't get any cheaper than that for a Disney trip. It's too tempting to pass up.

Geaux Tigers!!!!

I just booked my October 1 trip on July 13, only 2.5 months out. I was able to get a 2-br at the BWV for the first two nights and a 2-br at the OKW for the last. The waitlist just came through on Thursday for the last night at the BWV. :)

This could have been easier than usual because it's the first year that the F&W Festival begins so early. Members weren't thinking of early October when booking for the event. Whatever the reason, I'm happy!

Ha! Not to worry, the dates we are looking at fall on the weekend LSU plays Troy State (10/23) and an open date (11/6). One of the benefits of being National Champs is that the Tigers are on national TV pretty much every game, just in case we have to pick a different weekend.

In a couple of hours, I'll know if we got a room or not and the suspense will be over.

Geaux Tigers!

Two weeks ago I decided to add two nights to our mid October ressie. I was looking for a studio for two weekend nights. I had my choice between BWV, BCV, OKW, and SSR. I chose SSR to experience the new place.

Paula is going to be at the F&W festival!!! We love her!!! We called a couple of weeks ago and got a 2 bedroom at OKW for 10/06 through 10/09. It was all that was available but that is fine with us. We were not planning to do F&W but when my kids find out Paula is gonna be there LOOK OUT!!!!!!!

Well, we got in for 11/6 - 11/9 at Old Key West. Member Services told me that there were absolutely no studios available for 10/23 - 10/26 at any DVC resort on property.

We're happy to get a room at this short notice during F&W Fest, so I'm sure we'll enjoy ourselves. We got on the waitlist for any of the other DVC resorts for that time, but will be perfectly happy with OKW if that's the way it works out.

laceemouse, I am sorry if my post gave you the wrong impression. The chefs for the Food and Wine festival are spread out during the entire event. Paul Deen is there 10/23, but 10/8 is Alan Wong and he is one of my favorites! He is a great chef. We dined at his restaurants this winter while in Oahu and the Big Island, the food was wonderful.

We were lucky that we were there for the F&W for both our Honeymoon, and our first year anniversary. It really was spectacular, but we haven't been able to get a ressie for that same time periods (without a waitlist and/or moving resorts or rooms) since.

Does anyone know if they're planning to make the F&W earlier in October every year, or just this one?

I booked my ressie back in Jan at SSR and wanted to get into BC and they had all of my days expect for one in the middle of my dates. I chose to transer to OKW with a better point deal. Definitely goes quickly!! They started announcing things for the food and wine Fes on July 20th. It is a shot in the dark here!! Good luck!!

Since the time was originally expanded due to popularity and increased demand, I'm sure they will continue the pattern - especailly if the extra time continues to help increase park attendance and resort bookings.

Best wishes -
