DVC II exchange question

Hi all,

I am considering a DVC purchase. I read that DVC can be exchanged in II. I just need more details on how the exchange works. I know there is a chart for various point values for different sizes and seasons. It started at one bedroom low season for 124 points. Does that mean II assign a value (low/mid/high) for each week? Can you request a search if nothing is available immediately? At which point do you have to give II the points? Is there a fee for joining II?

don't buy DVC to exchange for II units... You would be better off buying a regular timeshare for that purpose.

I totally agree. The points vary by individual week and resort within the grid you've noted. There are points for a studio and 3 BR even though they are not on the grid. To get the good stuff you almost always have to do an ongoing search. They take the points when you say yes to the final exchange, not when you place the request.
