DVC golf membership

Can the golf membership be purchased through member services or do I have to go to one of the golf courses to purchase?

You do not purchase until you show up at the pro shop for first tee time, and that is only place to get the DVC annual golf membership card. You can make tee times in advance using discount even though you won't buy the card until you get there.

Does any know the discount rates at the golf courses? DH is planning on doing some golfing while we are down there in december.

For Dec it's $79 before 10am and $59 after 10am.
If I were booking for Dec I'd opt for the after 10am because you never know what the temps will be like.

Can someone rate the WDW golf courses from the best down. I'm thinking of taking my son on a golfing only trip to WDW in May for a college graduation gift and we've never played there..

Generally, Osprey ridge is considered the best designed course. 4.5 stars instead of 4 like the others.
Enjoyment of the courses also depends upon your game. Magnolia is loaded with sand, palm is loaded with water and Lake Buena Vista has tight fairways that may be intimidating to an occasional hacker like myself. Oak trail is a 9 hole walking course, which I expect to become more busy now that it is included in the water park and more options.
That is generally how they rate Osprey, Magnolia, Palm, and then LBV.

Oak trail is good for warm up, or for going with kids.

I'd rate them as follows:
Osprey Ridge-prettiest, fairly tough
LBV-shortest and easiest IMO,
Palm-Lots of water,fairly open,semi long,
Magnolia-Longest and by far most difficult

Make sure you play Osprey though it's only going to be around a couple more years.
