Hi gang! I'm certain this subject has been talked about before but the search function on the forums didn't find a hit. So, here goes...

Does anyone have the scoop on the DVC Golf Discount? What is the cost of the program? What kind of discounts are there at the Disney courses?

I'm heading to OKW with my brother the second week of October to celebrate our 40th b-day and we have lots of golf planned for that week. :thumbsup2

Thanks in advance for any info.

The DVC Golf Membership costs $50.00 per year. This entitles you to discounted tee times for yourself and three others in the same four some. The biggest "catch" to the program is that tee times have to be made for after 10:00 AM. The discount varies a little by season and in some seasons the deal is better than others. Since you will be going in Mid-October, your rate will be $50.00 per person. The normal resort rate for Osprey Ridge for that time frame is $135.00. In the October 1 to December 31 time frame you can make tee times up to 90 days in advance. January to May tee times can only be made 14 days in advance.

I would get on the Disney site today to make the tee times. DW and I have 6 tee times between us from October 10 to 24. You can make them on line at www.disneygolf.com. You don't have to have the DVC Membership when you make the tee times but you will have to buy it in the pro shop before you play. Indicate on the tee reservation that you do have it though so you get the proper rate.

First thing I would suggest is to try to get a time on Osprey Ridge. In my opinion the best on property. After that any of the other courses are great.

Thanks Jim!

I grabbed a tee time on Osprey Ridge for 10:30am on Oct 10th. Should be a great time. If you and DW want to join us that would be nice. $50 a person seems to be a great rate.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the offer, however, DW will be arriving with 3 girl friends for a golf and parks trip on the 11th. I'm joining her on the following Wed when we have two other couples joining us in a GV for Wed through Monday. I am coming in on Sunday night and my brother (an Orlando resident) and I are going up the Ponte Vedra for a few days. He and I are playing the Stadium Course at Sawgrass on the 16th.

I notice from your membership column that you are local. I am pretty sure that you can use your DVC Golf Membership at any time during the year. You don't have to be staying at one of the resorts to use it. Also, check out the Fl residents membership to see if it might be a better deal. I haven't really compared it but it might be an alternative.

We were at WDW last Dec and got our membership at that time. By the time we are done with our October trip we will have put 32 rounds on that membership. I think it will have paid for itself!

Great info! We will be there in April 2008 and were wondering about the golfing. We also have APs, which I believe give you a 30% discount off the day rate w/no tee time restrictions. Do you happen to know if this is true? Also, do you know what the rate is for 18 at the various courses in April? I can't find that. (I'm sure I looked right at and missed it)

Thanks!

Jennz, the 30% off with AP is true. It's on the regular price only, so it doesn't apply to the summer "price slice" rates or twilight rates.

Also, I found that the official site on golf only told about 2/3 of the story, though it was really nicely presented. The wdwgolf.com fansite has up-to-date info on all three seasons and is a bit less glitzy, but more straightforward.

I just checked the Disney Golf web site and I didn't see the rates for Jan-Apr. In the past the resort rates have been $155.00 for Osprey Ridge and Magnolia. A little less for Palm and LBV. I assume they will be about the same or a little higher for '08. I don't think they have published the spring '08 rates yet.

The AP does give a 30% discount on the day rate, which is usually $10.00 over the resort rate. That means the AP green fees would be around $115.50vs the DVC rate of $89.00 for that time of year. The AP discount does not restrict the time so early tee times are possible, however, advance booking on the AP rate is restricted. Advance booking for the AP discount is 14 days any time of the year. For the DVC membership, the Jan-Apr season has a 14 day advance and the rest of the year a 90 day advance

I am a DVC member and an AP holder but I am not a golfer. I will be bringing some family members who are golfers when we visit Nov. 11 - 18. None of them can use either discount, I assume, even if I buy the DVC golf membership?

Hi guys...I'm back with one more question...as AP holders we get the 30% discount of the non-resort guest rate...if we play after 3 do we get 30% off the twilight rate?

Thanks for your help!

No. The AP discount does not apply to already discounted (such as twilight) rates.
