DVC Gold AP.

thisi is a new pass. We actually have DVC gold ap vouchers in our MDE account. Expiration 2099. We activate when we are ready to use them. While we arrive in 2 weeks we’re still on the fence whether we’re going to activate or wait until June with the family. If you had an ap during the shutdown that you canceled or it expired on its own, you should call.

btw, you call the vip AP number, not dvc. This is NOT a dvc offer to recover dead APs, this is a passholder offer. They don’t care if it’s a dvc AP, florida AP, or regular out of state AP. The dvc CMs are clueless to this offer.

Thanks!! Super helpful!

I think this is really important to understand, even though it’s frustrating.

I would be very surprised if DVD has not tried hard to work a deal to allow DVC owners to get them because it is a great selling point.

But Disney divisions do their own thing and unfortunately, since sales have not opened up for any special groups, the division in charge of APs has obviously decided it’s not worth selling to new people given the restrictions.

"But Disney divisions do their own thing..."

When DVC, required or not, included an acknowledgement (a promise) in their direct-sale contracts to sell "members" annual passes, they bound the actions of the two divisions together. I'm sorry if that was a poor choice on their part. Furthermore, in corporate America, divisions acting completely independently from one another - usually ends badly.

"...since sales have not opened up for any special groups."

And this of course is not true. NEW sales opened up to: 1) passholders who cancelled their AP's during the pandemic, and 2) certain persuasive DVC members.

Those are the VERY definition of special groups.

Again, the only reason Disney believes they "can make up the rules as we go" is because they're pretty sure they have better and more well-funded legal resources than the rest of us.

When did they stop selling the AP? I bought 2 on 1/24/2020, 1 on 1/28/2020 and 1 on 2/10/2020. I have not activated them yet since we are not arriving until 6/20/2021.

They pulled them on June 19th. I added a pair of APs to my cart that day and when I went to pay for them I got kicked out.

I’m sure that candy coating everything Disney (no matter which division it is) does makes a lot of people here happy but here are the simple facts: some DVC members can buy passes and some can’t. If they truly feel that stopping sales would be best then they shouldn’t sell any. There’s nothing I’ve experienced so far from Disney up until this that seems like such an obvious money grab.

Why? Because they know basically how many nights I’ll be there (based on how many points i have) and they know that I live a long way away. They know I won’t tax the daily attendance a bit more with a pass than without. They also know that they can grab more of my money if they don’t sell me a pass.

But there are some Florida residents who can buy and some who can not. There are some non Florida who can buy and some who can not. There are cash guests who can and who can not.

DVC is no different in terms of being subset. Right now, the only people who can buy are people who were pass holders when sales shut down around mid June.

Of course, DVC owners would love to be allowed but so would Florida residents or cash guests.

Now if this was a product that DVC was in charge of and they allowed some and not all, that would be different. But DVC is the management company and really not the one who gets to decide, no matter how much we think they should

I disagree. The opened up sales to pass holders who were pass holders when the park closed. New pass holders IMO is someone who was not a pass holder prior to mid June.

My definition of a special group was referring to anyone who was say a FL resident but not a pass holder already, etc. They too are suspended

I also disagree that they are obligated when it’s clear they are not. People currently getting them is not dependent on being DVC or not DVC.

I said Disney, and whether or not its Disney or DVC doesn't matter. Whether DVC/DVD is a separate entity doesn't make any difference to me. They are all part of Disney and I didn't say DVC I said Disney.

We can debate this all we want, but the bottom line is that AP discounts for DVC members are a perk. Being able to purchase an AP, discount or not, was also not expressly promised in the contract. Do I want and need an AP due to multiple trips coming up? Yes. Is it frustrating that I can't get one yet? Also yes. But I understand and am aware of all of the nuances just as Sandi described. I also don't begrudge anyone who's been able get one under the current pandemic-related parameters.

Is there any chance of the Gold DVC annual pass going away?
Of course, anything is possible. That said, IMO, it is HIGHLY unlikely. The DVC annual passes are a major factor in many people's decision to purchase direct. If necessary, DVD will use marketing dollars to keep them around.

There may be a price increase when annual passes go on sale again, but again IMO, the DVC annuals will still be an option.

OMG, great price for annual! I just paid more than that for a 7-day park hopper in October!
Yes - ours expire next month, and I was thinking about just buying new ones to activate next fall (nothing booked yet), but once I started comparing the cost of 7-day hoppers, new Gold APs and renewal Gold APs, it made more sense to renew now. We are reasonably certain we’ll get more than one 7-day visit out of them between now and next March.

My pass expired in February 2020, so my renewal period ended in March. I didn't think I was in the group that could get a new gold pass or renewal, but I figured I'd call anyway. The CM who took my call (after 30 minutes on hold) said that I likely qualified, and took my information. I'll see what happens when they call me back in 7-10 days (his claim) or 21-24 days (reported here)!

I just called and spoke to a very pleasant cast member. I advised her that my Gold AP expired during the shutdown and I'd like to purchase a new one. She took my info to fill out a form and said that customers with passes that expired during the shutdown or ones that had been cancelled are being given the opportunity to purchase new AP's. She asked how many in my family had passes, I was the only one. She said I should be hearing back from someone in the next 30 days to purchase a new gold AP. I waited 45 mins on hold exactly. My husband and I actually enjoyed listening to the hold music, got us excited to go back this fall for the 50th celebration!! I also have a trip planned for August with my goddaughter and her mom for her 16th bday, need this so it can cover both trips. I never would have thought of calling if it were not for all the posts on Disboards, so thank you to everyone who posted and shared their experience.

3 members of my family had Gold Annual Passes that expired the middle of May 2020. We received refunds so I'm confused if we are eligible for renewals? Also, if we receive new passes,, will the passes expire a year from when we receive them or from when we 1st use them? I'm sorry if this is a repeat question but I'm very confused!

Yes, you can buy a new pass even if you got your pass refunded. I also elected a refund and was still able to buy a new pass.

The year of admission begins when you first use it. You are buying a new pass, not renewing.

Thank you. People have written about the recovery department but I've only found the general AP phone number, 407 939-7277. Is this the number to call. I'm a reference librarian & am feeling very inadequate in my job right now that I'm not answering my own questions!

+1 to CarolMN. We cancelled our APs last year and got a refund. I called the regular AP line on 1/31 (waited 2+ hours on hold) and they took my info for a call back. Wednesday 2/24 they called me and allowed me to repurchase my AP at the DVC discounted price, which will start the first day I use it.

Disney won’t sell most people a season pass right now, they will let you renew and if you canceled your pass buy a new one. Yes they are losing cash because of this decision. Tons of people are eagerly waiting to give WDW hard earned cash for a pass.
So if I cancelled my pass during the closure, I can buy a new AP now? Am I able to use it whenever I choose? Hoping to go Feb 2022, but that is still very much up in the air?

Never mind. Question answered.

This is what I used when I called. Waited 45 mins.
