DVC Gold AP.

DVC wants to do everything possible to discourage re-sale contract purchases, and I agree with them. I paid more for my direct contracts, and AP discounts is a perk for me and others who gave them money upfront.

unless you live in WV or Alaska. I wanted to add on a direct purchase at HH. dvc cant sell sold out resorts to these 2 states. Crazy. I can only buy in person, and even that doesn’t work. My adult daughter is an owner on my account. Unless all 3 owners are together during the purchase to sign the contract I can’t do it. My guide tried every way to do this, even FaceTime with my daughter during my March trip, but that was also against the rules. This wasn’t always the case. I purchased all of my points by phone from my home and Bwv was sold out when I purchased direct. So this rule changed a few years ago. So I get to keep my $$ and see no way to add on unless my daughter joins us, AND there are points available to buy at HH with an April U/Y at that exact time. I’m sure this is a state issue, not DVC .

Ouch the A/P keep going up and up.... We usually go twice a year to make sure we the cost of the A/P is cheaper than 2 7 day tickets but its getting more and more expensive each year to renew.

Yes, it's about individual state regulations re timeshare sales.

its definitely crazy. It’s only for sold out resorts, not new ones. Seems inconsistent. I bought Bwv 4 times direct over the phone about 10 years ago with no problem. My guide said it’s something to do with a certificate to be-able to sell sold out resorts. I’m looking at resale now, but own 6 direct purchases, so the restrictions don’t really affect me. It’s just the wait for my UY contract.

Couldn’t you purchase and have the names added to the deed at a later date? It’s a little more involved, but still doable.

I'm not 100% certain but it may be the DVC owners that were allowed to buy APs were new direct owners who bought in during the pandemic. They may have a slightly better position because they were never given the option to buy APs (which is kind of alluded to in membership benefits). The thinking may be an existing owner at least had the opportunity to have an existing Gold AP. I guess we'll see as more people try.

I’m really tempted to call and beg for just this reason. The Gold pass was the only reason why we bought a direct contact (in September) and now we can’t get one.
I am fully aware that the discount isn’t guaranteed but I sure could use it.

Did you ever try to get one?

I didn't. From what I keep reading, if you have any AP questions or issues they put you on a call back list and that apparently is taking a month or so. We are leaving tomorrow to go down so I can't imagine we could get it done in time to apply these tickets' prices to our AP anyway.

You can also try at Disney Springs to plead your case, who knows you might get lucky. On a side note, we are leaving to go tomorrow as well.

My Gold AP is expiring 5/11/21 and have trip booked 10/18-23/21 at BCV for F&W. Am I being too concerned about not being able to make park reservations if have to wait to renew? or see if can renew now?

I believe it’s 60 days before and up to 30 days after for renewal.

Well I'm not getting any love. 😢
We have three trips planned for three milestone birthdays this year and its looking like we might be cancelling one or two and renting out the points we just bought instead. Guaranteed perk or not, even the non-DVC pass was closer to reasonable but this rule where some are allowed to buy and others are not is crap.
We leave in the morning and this trip already has a sour taste.

They will let you renew early if you have a room reservation after the expiration so you can make park reservations. Just give DVC a call!

Really? Thank you!!!! We have an October trip that I have been waiting to make reservations for, but our renewal isn't until March. I had not heard this before. I will try and call tomorrow.

I agree with you. The thing that upsets is me how some are allowed to get the pass but others can’t.

I’m planning on doing the same thing as you. There is no way I’ll pay for more than one set of 6 day park tickets. Our leftover points will just be banked or rented.

That's so good to know! Dealing with a similar situation - booked for Dec, but pass expires Nov from all the extensions. I'll happily give them my money early if I can book park passes
