DVC Gold AP.

Hello,
So our Gold APs were to expire on December 2020, we got an extension until May 2021 and we are using them for our upcoming March trip.
My question is, do we have to renew by May? or can we renew later on , say December ? maybe a dumb question, sorry. Just asking because they can see that you used to be a previous AP holder, I maybe wrong.
TIA

Assuming you want to pay the renewal price, you have to renew your pass within the renewal window (up to 60 days before and 30 days after the pass expiration date). If you wait until December, you will have to pay for a new pass, if WDW is offering them again.

Thank you, aw, decisions !

I wish that would work. After a couple hours on hold I was met with a very stern "we have no control and can not make exceptions. If your pass didn't expire after March 2020 there is nothing we can do"

ETA- I've been REALLY stressed since January, seeing as a family of 5 we have three planned trips this year. Tickets for 3 trips will cost us close to $5,000 more than the Gold AP we planned to have. We had a planned lapse from late 2019 until last spring, then covid hit. :headache:

It appears that this DVC owner was able to convince that division to sell them because they are a DVC owner, I’d push the issue and tell them you know of at least one person given the exception and if they can do it for one, they can do it for all!

I am sorry. I’d keep trying and ask to speak to people even higher. Again, not DVC, but the AP division.

Any idea who the right person to contact at the AP division is? I emailed the address listed in the other thread for DVC member services. I only see phone numbers for AP. I get nowhere over the phone and don't have anywhere near the time needed to sit on hold with them constantly.

You could also try sending an email to say the president of the Disney World Resort would probably be the best person. I don't know how this board feels about posting their name and/or email address, but a google search should get you the information you need. Be sure to explain everything in the email, I think you should get a decent response, but it may take a bit.

It Is not MS so contacting them really won’t help as they can’t authorize any new sales, That is why with the recovery offer currently in place, even DVC owners who canceled have to deal with the AP sales division, As far as I know, it requires a call,

I might say you believe you should be eligible to get one and Want to get a call back from someone in the recovery department and then discuss with them why you believe as a DVC owner should be given the opportunity to purchase it!

Id agree with you except we now have evidence that a DVC owner was able to get them to bend.

In that case, I think it’s worth continuing to try.
And I agree with you... if they do it for one, they should do it for all.

I just think the whole premise of it is wrong. They set the rules (which I do not agree with), but folks keep pushing them to make exceptions.

I'm not 100% certain but it may be the DVC owners that were allowed to buy APs were new direct owners who bought in during the pandemic. They may have a slightly better position because they were never given the option to buy APs (which is kind of alluded to in membership benefits). The thinking may be an existing owner at least had the opportunity to have an existing Gold AP. I guess we'll see as more people try.

It appears WDW's strategy is keeping guest spending per capita as high as possible so there's still profit to be made with reduced capacity. It stinks but I think decisions are guided by that, trying to get as many guests at close to full price they can out of those limited park spots.

Isn't at least one of those reporting buying them an owner pre-covid? Late 2019/early 2020 is still before they cut off sales. If someone completely bought in to a new contract after sales had ceased, unless it was within the first week or two after sales were cut off, they knew they would have to wait an undisclosed amount of time, so it would be a truly rare circumstance that any owner would be in a different boat than the rest of us.

I’m just as frustrated and concerned as the next person. We have a 15 night trip coming up in September for which we purchased multi day tickets in order to be able to book park reservations and secure 10/1/21 at MK. I’m about to book an eight or nine night trip for Festival of the Arts in January. I would like to schedule another two week trip for September of next year. In a perfect world, I would’ve purchased an AP and gotten three trips out of it. Unfortunately, it didn’t pan out that way but my hope is that they become available soon because I don‘t want to shell out another $500+ for January, so we’re going to take the risk and remain in a holding pattern for sale of APs before then and not make any park reservations. That being said, I’m not comfortable pitching a fit with Disney when I know what the official rules are.

Ugh. I have a reservation in late April and on October 1st so I have been in an AP "holding pattern" for a while and have not bought passes yet. I just looked at theme park availability and noticed that 10/1 is currently sold out for the MK. I am so disappointed.

Don‘t give up hope. It’s very likely that park capacity will be increased by then, resulting in additional reservations, or people may cancel their trips. I’m in the same boat with my niece who decided to join us last minute. I was able to secure all of the park reservations to match ours except for 10/1.
