DVC Gold AP Activation

Hi everyone!

My mom is a DVC member and I reside in her household. Both of our ids have the same address. I bought the Gold AP a while back with plans to activate it when we go on our trip in May. I am now thinking about going down by myself before that trip, so my mom, The DVC member would not physically be there.

If I have the AP activation/confirmation barcode, the credit card used, a picture of her DVC card, a picture of her photo ID, and my ID with the same address on it, would they activate the pass? Or does she physically need to be present.

I’d even be willing to FaceTime her during the activation process

Possibly. She should probably call MS and discuss it with them. MS will likely say to take those same things, but they may also put a note on the record saying you can activate without the member being physically present.

If she hasn't done it already, then you should have her go to her DVC account an list you as an Associate Member. Associate Members have rights to make and change reservations and things like that. I don't know if that will be enough for you to activate your AP, but it might help.

Being an Associate Member would make no difference in the OPs situation.

I am already an associate on the account but I will have her call member services to see if they can make note of the situation. Thank you both! I’ll cross my fingers.

I have experience with this one, lol. I purchased a Gold AP for my daughter for our trips in '17 to '18. My Ex then decided she wanted to rent some of my DVC points so she could take our daughter down right before our trip was planned. I called MS, explained the situation and they notated my account. My Ex had to take down a copy of my member ID, a copy of my DL, and the pertinent Gold AP Info (barcode or confirmation number). At Guest Services, it was easy for her to activate the AP based on the information MS notated in the system. I've had to do this twice now over the past 3 years so don't worry at all as this happens frequently based off of my conversations with MS. Definitely have your mom call MS and tell them the situation and have them notate the account appropriately. As long as she does that and you have the pertinent copies needed, you will not have any problems activating your pass. Enjoy your trip(s)!

I'd add the AP to your MDE account as well. You can type the confirmation number into the web site and attach it to your profile.
