No, the points in each contract stay the same, so you aren’t in a good position currently to equitably distribute your contracts.

You're going to end up having one reallllly loved son (the one that inherits 300 points), one somewhat loved son (120 points) and another that you despise (nothing). . Unfortunately, you must pass down the points as they are deeded, you cannot split up the 300 point contract if you bought it that way. In order for the 3rd child to get direct benefits assuming you don't just put all 3 of their names on both of the contracts in some form is for you to buy the third son a new 150 point direct contract if you want them each to have their own.

This is why we recommend splitting larger contracts into multiple contracts. It makes it easier to pass down to your kids/easier to sell and sell for more.

They can't split up individual contracts. I worded my earlier response poorly. So you'll have to transfer each contract as its whole. That's part of why some folks buy 300 pts direct total as 150 x2, for example.

Haha - that won't do at all. That portion is an interesting riddle that I will have to set aside for Future SKwak. That fact is still not going to drive me to spend the extra money with Mickey.

Yeah I mean nothing to do obviously at this point and hindsight is 20/20. IMO if you didn't want to buy new points, I'd put 2 of the sons on the 300 pt and 1 son on the 120. Or you could simply have the son that gets the 300 pointer (probably the one that loves Disney the most) pay the son that likes Disney the least pay to buy them out /shrug.

You can! You can put all 3 sons on both of your SSR contracts and each one will have blue card perks. The only downside to doing it that way is if one of your children goes through a divorce, Id be worried about that being an asset thats fought over

Over 25 years ago, we bought our points in two equal contracts because we have two kids. As it has turned out, though, one child wont be able to afford the dues. We added the other one to both contracts simply to make it easier when we pass - they’ll be able to sell it without going through probate in Florida, if they don’t want to use it, or they can rent out the points. The one who won’t become a D.V.C. owner will be covered in other ways. Being fair doesn’t require being identical.

I might. I love the location. But I am sure it will even be more expensive than The Polynesian.

Maybe, if it is rolled into the same association as the cabins, who knows. It’s also not a manorial resort nor does it have skyliner access

When you buy via resale - are there any restriction on gifting the contracts to our three sons as we age out of avid Disney visits? I am guessing that at age 80 (no offense intended to anyone), we may not want to go often but I bet our kids will want to go with their families.

You can put your contracts in a living trust. BTW, I've talked to a lot of 80s year olds who mostly like to chill by the pool, get a drink, and a nice dinner at EPCOT, and stay for two weeks. I'd say that there's a point in life where the focus of DVC most deeply from parks to the resort itself. Enjoy it! I plan to when I get there.

It is funny, we seem to have started that transition at age 59. It helps that we now like 3.5 miles from Disney property and can go to the parks mostly any time that we wish to do so.

I do think a focus shift from theme parks to resorts is very normal as you age. Hence, I want more points!

Our existing contracts at SSR are February use year. We would like all three of the 150 pt contracts at CCR that we would purchase to be the same month together and that should be easy to do. HOWEVER, does it really matter that it would be a different month than our points at SSR?

Anyone have experience managing contracts at different resorts but with different use year months?

Should be fine if you don't plan on combining the points together regularly. Still would be preferred to have them in the same use year though.

I'd only do this if you plan to never (or rarely) use the SSR and CCR points together to book one trip. If you are going multiple times a year and treating them as two separate pools, go for it.
