DVC Flash Mob - the time to act is now!

DTD flash mob...not dancing, freezing in place.

The freezing ones strike me as rather dumb, although they would obviously be easier to pull off.

With a dance flash mob, I don't know how you would get everybody on the same page with the steps. I guess someone worked out the dance steps, put them on Facebook and everyone practiced on their own. Most of the better ones I've seen -- The Ohio State and Do-Re-Mi dances and others -- were obviously done by cheerleaders, pep squads, or dance schools who had time and space to do rehersals.

Other great flash mob dances are Glee II and the Oprah/Black Eyed Peas I got a feelin' videos on You Tube. Glee II is mostly Don't Stop Believing at a mall in Rome at Christmastime. The I Got a Feelin one is a live performance and involved thousands of people. It would be interesting to know how they coordinated that one.

I have to say that Disney would not allow this, at least not in a park. Their entertainment is tightly controlled, and they would not want to set a precedent of ignoring an unapproved dance display, just as they do not allow adults in costumes for various reasons.

DtD, or outside at a resort, maybe, but not in a park.

ok...we could use the sidewalks in front of the village green, and in front of the boat dock at the Boardwalk, and up on the verandah. We could use the Hello Dolly music (Put on your Sunday clothes) that is played on Main Street. This music was featured in WALL-E, or how about in Atlantic Dance during or before Welcome Home Wednesdays.

The same music could be used on the grounds of SSR.

I like the tapestry of dreams music or something from the Lion King for AKL.

I can't think of anything if we did it at BLT, or more specifically...I can only think of the theme from the Jeffersons or the Jetsons...which is not Disney music.

How about "When you wish upon a star" at BLT?

Maybe we could make some tri-circles or something.

This thread is funny. Loving those flash mob links.

I'm more curious about how you'd ever get enough DISboard DVCers together at WDW the same time to do this than any of the other plans. I think having a good quantity of people is key because too few and you'll just look like you're plain nuts. :lmao:

If I were there I'd film & edit it for you - but I'm not planning on another trip until next August. Have fun!

i have always been a rule follower, dull boring, but this is just fun, and i'd still count myself in, for that one moment of aspiration of being part of this DVC DISer flash mob ;) just don't make the choreography too complicated lol!

Count me in (not sure about DH, he could go either way. Though it would also be fun to keep it a secret from him too and then when it starts, I join in and he has no idea what's going on :cool1:).

Though as others have said, not sure how we could coordinate a trip all together.

As for everyone learning the moves, we would need someone very good at choreography that could video tape the routine with step by step instructions and post to FB or something. And also the exact version of whatever song was decided on. Then anyone participating just needs to practice practice practice.

My understanding about most of these is they appear to be spontanteous but in truth they are very planned out and rehearsed and practiced before they suprise everyone.

Here is the behind the scenes practice to the Oprah one. http://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/The-Making-of-Oprahs-Flash-Mob-Dance-Video

I had some friends participate in one at a local university. They practiced for weeks before they pulled it off.

I love those flash mobs... On the show Glee they did one on one of the episodes. Include me in the DVC version!!! :thumbsup2 LOL

I do not wish to be a part of any mob, flash or otherwise.

Come on WildernessDad - We can start it off right in front of the fountains at Epcot! I'm sure if you and I start, everyone else will just jump right in!

Anyway, if we start and nobody joined in, who would notice? We're just two more old guys at Disney trying to embarrass our children.

Wear your Mickey ears . . . .

My focus was on not participating in anything that included the word "flash!" :scared1:

However, that video is great. Would have been the perfect thing to do in college!!

That's pop culture for you! A flash mob is not a mob at all, and there's no "flashing"...usually...

See all the things we learn on the DIS?? I don't know what I'd do without all of you here. Plus I used flash mob in a sentence and my DD was shocked.

I just had to pop in and say that I was there the day they filmed that video! It was just as cool to watch in person! :cool1:
