We are DVC members and we're taking our DD, DSIL and grandkids with us in June. We have a 2BR reserved in our name using our points. In the past, our room keys state we are DVC members and we use those for various discounts while there. Will our DD's key show the same thing, and would they be eligible for discounts while there? I'm not wanting to start any heated arguments, just want to know if it's something to mention to them or not!

The "DVC Member" indication dropped off the room keys for a while when they upgraded to the new front desk systems a while back, but I've heard it's back on there again. There is a glitch, though, that it won't print on the key for the "lead person" on the reservation (guest #1).

As far as getting perks and discounts, you'll find varying results by cast member. We've been given DVC discounts/perks before based on the room key, and we've also been asked to show the actual DVC Member card. YMMV.

The only one I've seen that they're very, very strict on is the annual pass discount. You absolutely must show the DVC Member card for that one. For other shopping and dining discounts, pool hopping, Welcome Home Wednesdays, and mini golf, we've had success in the past using our keys.

I have never been asked for DVC card.

Ny experience is that most of the time they don't even for any proof of membership.
