...need to know... is there still such a thing,
and if so does it apply to all DVC resorts or only SSR? :goodvibes

I think the CM discount is still 15%, but would assume it is like all other purchase incentives and is only valid on the resort being actively sold- in this case, SSR. There are usually no incentives offered for any of the sold out resorts.

Enjoy!

My sister is a Cast Member at the Contemporary. Doc got it just right, it is 15% off the current resort. :thumbsup2

Wow :thumbsup2 I was thinking it'd be more like 5%

Thank you Doc & Princess...
Now to see what DS is up to ... :teeth:

Just out of curiosity...would CM's get the 15% on top of any other incentives? If not, isn't the deal going on right now about 15% off already?

I think the CM discout is in addition to all other incentives. Pretty good reason for CMs to purchase.

Back when i purchased add'l points with the magical beginnings program, i think the regular selling price was $65, i got my points for $48 pp including the 15% cm discount! One thing people forget, that is not JUST for the cm. At the time, my sister was thinking of purchasing and our guide said she could get my discount too. At least that's how it WAS. good deal! :thumbsup2

I just bought at BWV I already own at Saratoga my daughter is a CM and I got the discount at BWV too.

Okay, time to start climbing the family tree...I must have a long-lost relative somewhere that is a CM! :teeth:

Hmmm... I'm sure there's a waiting list, but does anyone know what the going rate for BC is through Disney before any discounts? :teeth:

It is my understanding that a CM discount is 25% according to our guide. My son is a former cast member who occasionally works at WDW and we are in the process of finalizing a 50 pt. add-on.

We are waiting to determine when he will be able to return to work in order to make us eligible for the discount. If he is not able to return we plan to complete the add-on without the discount.

Have fun!!

Sorry, it is not 25%. As others have posted, it is 15% and that goes for any purchase through Disney, whether it is at a "sold-out" resort or SSR.

And remember that the Disney family is LARGE. My brother works for ABC in NYC and I was able to receive the discount. All he had to do was fax his credentials to my guide...and voila...hello CM discount for me!

I thought the discount was raised from 15 to 25 right after the Disney Stores were sold to Children's Place. It's totally possible it's back to 15 but I'm fairly certain I remember it being 25% at least for a time.

The discount was in addition to any existing promos. Just like if you went into a store & an item happened to be on sale you would get your disc off the sale price.

:)

Wow--if that is true, I am bummed that I missed that one! Talk about missing the sale of the century!

Last year the discount was 25% for WDW-Florida based CM and their immediate family only. That promotion may have ended now, but it ran for more than one year. We bought in last summer, but since my hubby was a Disney employee, but not Florida based, we were only allowed to get the 15% discount. This was on top of all other incentives too. I believe the current incentive when we bought last year was $10 off per point, plus we got the 15%, so paid about $71 a point. He has since left the company, so this was our swan song.

I have a friend who is a CM and they bought SSR last year I believe - the rate was unbelievable - sorry I don't remember what it was exactly. But the part that stuck out was that disney was allowing CMs to buy in at a lower # of points. My friend only bought 100. This was her initial buy in, not an add on.

When we purchased last year, it was 15%...PLUS we were eligible for the additional $7 per point discount were running. It ended up bringing the dicount close to 25% (I don't remember how much exactly) If my brother was a DL castmember, our discount would have been 20%.

I guess this is true....although the "stated" CM discount is 15%, that is on top of any other incentives, so it can end up being 20 or even 25%. I just bought SSR this past July and my price per point was about $76 (computed: $98 - $10 incentive, - 15%). Never thought of the "total" discount pacakage, just the 15%.

Is the discount for immediate family members only? My mothers cousin is an employee in the Magic Kingdom. It's a far stretch, but hey if we're eligable then we'll do an add on.
