My family of six will be in a 2 bedroom that sleeps 9 in a few weeks and have already purchased our dining plan.

My brother-in-law from Tampa would like to come for one day/night....

My understanding right now is that I can add him to my reservation at check-in so that it will not be necessary for him to buy the dining plan for our whole length of stay. Is this correct? I have NO plans of attempting to let him use our credits...he will pay for his own meals..

Also since he will be in our room he will be able to use the pool for that day and park his car without any problem....?

Correct or am I missing something?

He just wants to hang out with his nieces and nephews for the later afternoon and evening and breakfast....

The last time we tried to add guests at check-in, the front desk couldn't change them. The CM had to go to the back room and contact a MS rep who had to cancel and rebook the reservation to correct the names.

You should be able to add him when he arrives- I would wait until then (unless it is the first night). His key may work for dining plan meals since your room is keyed that way but I have no idea since I have never added someone to a room that had a dining plan on it.

Yes but was that before they had "segmented" reservations? If they haven't changed the segmented thing yet the biggest hassle will be the going the desk to receive the new KTTK cards when he leaves.

Hi... Your post has confused me. We are staying 5 nights and he will only be with us for one..... Do you mean that they will have my family of 6 need to get new room keys when he leaves? He wont just be able to check in when he comes for the one night? Our whole family will be affected? I may have to throw him out lol.

They will be able to give him a room key for the night. I don't know he will be able to get a KTTW for EMHs.

I'm not a big one on breaking rules, but since he isn't going to the parks and is basically just coming in to be with you for a day, I wouldn't bother with getting him his own key. In fact, I wouldn't involve check in at all. You aren't over the occupancy, so just let him "borrow" one of your keys if you can.

Ignore what I told you and do as Diane has suggested, give him one of your room keys. Because if you add him to the ressie, opps can I say ressie?:rolleyes1, you may end up having to get new keys the day he leaves, which is a real pain in place he would land when you threw him out.:rotfl::rotfl:

I was told that I had to purchase the dining plan for our guest for the whole time...even though they were staying for one night...If they had a kttw. We did and when he left ...my husband and I had several character breakfast's with the other 6 credits.
We ate so much food that week....We gained 3 pounds.

At this time it may be possible to segment the reservation and have him added to the night he will be there. If you have the DDP he can be added for that night. Then when he leaves they will issue a new key and the DDP will be for the rest of you for the rest of your stay. I however would do what has been suggested and just ask for two parking passes when you check in and give him one of your room keys for the night if he even needs one since it sounds like you will all be spending time together anyway.

In Feb 2006, we were in a Grand Villa at BW. There were only 9 of us, so we had extra room.

A couple of family members had come down for the Daytona 500 and since they didn't leave until the next day they decided to meet us for dinner at Wolfgang Pucks and then go to La Nouba with us. Since we had room in our Villa they just stayed the night with us and took a cab to the airport the next morning. No reason to get a room since we had plenty.

They were never added to our room they just came to visit and stayed the night.

And if he wants to go to the pool they don't ask to see room keys for access.

Hope that helps, have a great trip!!!
