DVC "Deluxe Studio" villa - breakfasts/snacks you've prepared.

You will find the small grocery stores at resorts have plenty of food if you are just doing small type meals. Eggs are $4 a dozen. Peanut butter is $3.50 for a small jar. You can get bagels or English muffins for around $4. They have bacon, milk, oatmeal, fresh fruit, cold cuts, bread, frozen entrees etc. You will have paper products like plates, bowls, and plastic utensils in the room. Oh, and water is $8 for 24 small bottles. (All prices are from a trip in May 2019.) Yes, more expensive prices than home BUT far cheaper than eating all meals out. We pack granola bars in shoes, we take salt/pepper/mustard/ketchup packets with us. (Also stick in shoes. lol) We pack baggies and take mini ice packs with us. We have a small insulated soft side lunch box we take to the parks. We usually eat breakfast in and pack a sandwich and fruit for lunch and then eat dinner out or visa-versa. As you are staying at DVC you will have a very nice place to do laundry if you so choose. Don't forget to take laundry soap pods. (of course, put in a baggies and stick inside shoes.) We always stay 12 to 14 days so we pack light and do laundry. Also, first time at DVC - there are NEVER enough hooks for towels, swimsuits, and pjs. Take some suction cup hooks or the 3M ones that don't leave marks on walls. They will come in very handy if you want to be organized.

The one dinner we do in a studio is grilling out at one of the public grills. Depending on the resort (I think) they are either gas or charcoal. Grill some steaks, add a salad kits and one of those frozen microwaveable veggie packages and you have a complete meal. We have bought charcoal before and it’s a PITB. Finding a lighter is even harder! I’ve always wondered why all the DVC grills are not gas.

I'm pretty happy with wine and fruit, cheese and crackers. ;)

This gives me an idea of baked potatoes with broccoli and cheese or chili and cheese.

Don't forget to bring a halfway decent knife to cut fruit and veggies. Can't do too much with plastic knife. I bring a knife (in suitcase of course) that will work, but won't cry if I forget it behind.

...and this is being diplomatic.

Define “expanded”, I pack a jar of peanut butter (picky as to brand) & we grab a loaf of bread on the way into resort when we pick up fresh fruit, various beverages & snacks.

We switch it up with the Mickey Mouse Rice Krispie treats :).

Do tend to eat an early, hearty lunch as our main meal of the day, no complaints even from the kiddos as to starving.

You pack a jar of PB? I was considering doing that but didn't know if I could bring it in my checked luggage. Can I pack Jelly too? My kids are picky about the brands as well and I wanted to bring strawberry uncrustables as I found out the resorts only have grape. Uncrustables are good for 24 hours at room temperature so I thought I can bring a suitcase of just snacks. Has anyone done this?

I have packed peanut butter in checked luggage many times. Put it in a zip loc then multiple bags around it just in case it opens. Imagine jelly would be the same situation. You can also purchase small pouches of peanut butter that are two or three servings, which is what we did this time.

We usually do not check a bag but have done so for Disney since it can get heavy with all the food - apples, snacks, coffee, the peanut butter, etc. Growing up, my family would pack/check a large box vs. a bag since we didn't have many.

I have brought PB, jelly, cream cheese, butter, quiche, brown and serve type sausage, pepperoni, english muffins, cheese (both bricks and kraft singles), cookies, pringles, nuts, noodle/rice mixes, cans of soup/stew.

But not all at once, depends on who is coming on trip and time of year. I used a flat cooler meant for a 9 x12 pan to hold a box of frozen precooked food. Frozen food in a box, in a cooler, surrounded by clothes, stayed frozen for our trips of 5-6 hours from house to disney.

I know it sounds crazy to bring can of soup, but there have been times, it's pouring rain and cold, and we don't want to go out for food , even it's to the next building like BCV and BC. So a can or two of soup works in a pinch.

With the uptick of food shopping services, we don't do as much in the past. If I had a trip right now, I'd probably stick to a few items that I really really want that name brand and order the rest from shopping service.

Just know our suitcase is almost always picked for extra search and we get the TSA paper.

Thank you. I was wondering what I could bring in my snack suitcase lol. Im sure itll get searched

I put the PB in strong freezer bag & it usually sits inside a shoe. No leakage thus far. Take a few pkgs of the brand of MW popcorn we enjoy too.

Non solids go inside our suitcase that has liquid toiletries. They are packed in either a hard sided Rubbermaid shoebox sized container or Clear packing bags

have found the tsa notices that our bags were checked less than handful of times

just A reminder tho, careful how you pack the checked luggage

I thought I'd do a whole small suitcase of just snacks and use it for souvenirs on the way back or i may try instacart

We also pack a small knife in a protective sheath and small cutting board.

Wow!! 😲 You guys really came through with the tips and ideas!!
THANK YOU, ALL!!
Copying and pasting to my "planning document"!
I knew DisBoards peeps would have ideas that I'd not thought of.... really, like SO. MANY. THINGS! :cheer2:

Have Amazon Prime. QUESTION: What address do I use? and where does it get delivered to and held? Do I just go to the front desk?

Flying.
No car.

I've used the grills a lot too. The VGC, VGF & Aulani have gas grills for sure. HHI is charcoal. Not well versed on the grills at other resorts. There is are also places to sit near the grills. The hard part with trying to do this when you stay in a studio is the size of the refrigerator. Easy to do if you can go to the store and get when you need the day before you use the grills.

We buy microwavable soups, stews and meals for lunch, dinner or snacks. My son loves microwaving corndogs... so he survives on those lol. For quick and easy breakfasts, we do english muffins, bagels, fresh fruit or oatmeal. All very easy. Then inevitably what happens, is we get leftovers from restaurants which become light meals for the next day... easily reheated in the microwave.

You can google your resorts mailing address. It will get delivered to the lobby and held at baggage/concierge. They will keep it there for you. We usually order from garden grocer, with no problem at all. Don't order too much.... we always do.... lol

Sandwich fixings for lunch. Potato chips, pickles, some lettuce and tomato for the sandwiches. Hummus and mini carrots, cut up celery. Cereal, eggo waffles and nut butter and jam. Got chocolate, tea, coffee, water, soft drinks, cookies. Grab and go fruit—oranges, bananas, raisins, fruit leather, prunes. Much of this does not need refrigeration. We eat dinner out when in a studio, but do breakfast, lunch and snacks in the room.
Remember that most of the studio refrigerators do not have a freezer section. So your Eggo waffles will thaw out quickly.
