DVC Cruise Offerings

My apologies if this is listed elsewhere...

We are heading on a 7 night cruise over spring break this year. We sold our OKW membership a year ago to make some major home remodels.

Now, we are thinking about buying in direct from Disney so we can use the points on cruises occasionally (yes, I know it's not a good value, yes we understand we can "save money" using cash to book or renting our points, etc). We like the flexibility of booking a cruise on points for at least one person in the cabin.

My realy question is...what is the current offering for the DVC sale on board the Fantasy? I am sure it will change by March 2013, but it doesn't hurt to ask and get a feel for the current option.

I was on the dream last week and someone told me they purchased AKV for $135 per point.

We also like to cruise on points occasionally, in fact we just booked a 2013 verandah room for four, 7 night Alaska cruise for 729 points and $2800 cash.

I don't plan on ever using points for a cruise. I can tell you, this last month we received some pretty amazing deals offered only to dvc members. The one that was offered was for a 5 night cruise out of ny so no airfare for us. If we hadn't have had our fall vacation planned, we'd be on that boat for sure.

When and why do you think they offer these deals. They offer them during less desirable times to travel when they have trouble filling rooms. And in your case they offered on a short time frame when you have already made plans. I would rather travel at a time and place of my choosing than during less desirable times.
