DVC Cost comparison

Even though I love the idea of DVC, we are so used to staying at the Value resorts. So to try talking myself into the DVC I did a little comparison of the total cost of a couple resorts assuming buy in at the opening and 100 points.

Not to mention that the OKW owner would have gotten free park passes for 10 years, too. The people that had the foresight (and nerve) to buy back in the beginning were definitely rewarded!

If you currently stay in value resorts and are satisfied with that, DVC probably would not be a good fit for your family.

Our guide at DVC even told us that if we continue to stay at the Value resorts, DVC is not the best deal. I think we are ready to move on to the more home/condo like visits.

We looked at it this way, we recieved a qte for the last week of Feb @ All Star for $1500. We firgure we will own SSR for it's lifetime (and we will as we get w/drawls on the plane coming home ) Then with the price of pts and mtc fees (factoring in hikes) we are going to be close to that value resort qte. Only it will be going up and we will also being getting a better room. Just depends on how you look at it and how long you will own. Good Luck with your decision

See, I don't think it is always right to say to someone if you are satisfied with value resorts that DVC is not right for you. While there is truth in that thought, there is more to it. I am very satisfied to stay at a value resort at WDW. I am so happy to just be at WDW that I am satisfied wherever I have a room. However, I am definitely very happy and more satisfied staying in a nicer resort. I have stayed in all 4 of the values and had wonderful vacations. I've done 4 moderates and liked those also. Staying at the S/D really has been the spoiler for me but I have never even stayed at a deluxe WDW resort--yet . We bought into DVC this past year (once I had the money to actually pay for it up front) and have had one stay at OKW. It was perfect and I adored it!! DVC is for me and yet, I will be happy anywhere on property. Maybe you are a lot like me and have this same type feeling. If so, then look into buying in. I have not regretted it for 1/2 of a second!!

Did that quote include tickets or DDP? DVC doesn't include those costs, so they are extras.
