We are heading down for presidents week, and then again next year for New Years, so this may be the time to upgrade to the AP, if we have existing passes, I think they have like 4 days left, should we or can we turn them in for credit toward the DVC AP with the discount??? Or should we keep them and use them later on, plus they have the pluses on them, so I really wouldnt have to get the AP with all the other parks? What do you think? And where can I find the cost of the AP with the DVC discount these days?

And on another note - if I do get the AP, can I get the DDE at the resort at check in, or does that have to be done in advance as well???

Thanks

The MYW tix are so heavily front loaded that remaining days usually have little value. I suggest just using the 4 days instead of applying to an AP.

If it is a 4 day that has never been used, that is another story & may be worth applying to the AP, although you do have to take those plus features into consideration.

As for DDE, that can only be done via phone or fax with an actual AP # or an AP voucher #. DDE is open M-F, 9-5 (5:30?). You can call them & pick up a confirmation letter on the same day, after 5:30pm at Epcot Guest Services (only at Epcot) given that it is a regular business day for DDE.

The new rule is you cannot upgrade used tickets more than 14 days after first use, even with no expiration. I just saw a thread from a cm on another board. If I see it, I'll post a link.

That was always the rule for upgrades. Definition of upgrade is applying the entire purchase price of a MYW pass against the price of a new pass which has to be for more days than the original or an annual or premium annual. If you upgraded to an annual, it was backdated to the first use of the original MYW pass. Hd to be done within 14 days fo the first use of the pass.

But you could still apply the remaining value of a partially used pass towards the purchase of a new pass even after 14 days if you had the no-expiration feature. If you used the credit to purchase an annual, the year began on the day the annual was purchased (not backdated to first use of the MYW pass).

Anyway, do you think that the CM meant that Disney has stopped allowing credits? Don't think I will believe it unelss GoldenOldie says it's so, LOL. So many get the terminology messed up (upgrade vs dollar credit) and so post incorrect information due to misunderstanding.

If Disney is stopping the credits, it's probably because it's so seldom in the guest's best interests to do so since the advent of MYW tickets. As already mentioned, the MYW passes are so heavily front loaded that the last few days (of a 10 day pass for example) can be worth as little as $8 or $9 each. Much better to use them for admission.

Okay, it's so. ;)

Ticketing policies have changed drastically over the past two years since MYW was introduced. The changes have been constant. The most recent major change came last August with the ticket price increase. At that same time, Disney all but eliminated the "dollar credit" transactions. They now only do MYW ticket modifications prior to or within 14 days of first use. Adding the no expiration option does not change this. They viewed it as a simplification of their policy, one in which a guest would get a consistent reply from all CM's when approached about doing it. And as you pointed out, it was way more often than not in the guest's best interest not to do a dollar credit on a MYW ticket.

OK. Now I believe it, LOL. Thanks for the info.

So...
is it still possible to apply dollar credit from old (pre-MYW) tickets, or has that type of transaction also been discontinued?
