DVC AP Discount?

And some of us are sitting on old AP vouchers. I purchased regular AP vouchers for my grandkids in 2012 and then the promotional APs came out, so I filed them away. I have one left and won't activate it until May 2017, 3 weeks before my granddaughter turns 10. It is a child's AP (back when they had them). I have to think that it will be converted into a platinum AP once I activate it in a couple of years. It's sad to say I only paid $299 for it just 3 short years ago. I know of several folks who purchased vouchers in advance to prepare for the future. They are smiling now for sure.

I purchase 3 DVC APs in September ( I upgrade 3 MYW non hoppers) if I wanted the Gold Pass NOW and not a Platinum pass I guess there is no way to get a refund huh? LOL!

Also I guess I am SOL on the photopass downloads.

I am hoping for some kind of discount with this news. i am sure member services is going to be flooded with emails and comments about this. One can only hope they will listen. I am slightly discouraged about this. Yes the memory maker is great. But guess what it will not cover everyone in my grand villa, like it would have under the same disney account.

If you are a DVC member, and don't go Christmas/New Year's week or Easter week, the GOLD works. If however you go those times, you will need the Platinum -- which is significantly more expensive -- but has a DVC discount. To me, the discount almost matches the increase -- so you gain very little. In essence, it about $100 EXTRA to be able to go those weeks. Unfortunately, we have planned to go Christmas/New Year's week this year -- but it will most likely be our last time.

Same here! We go for a week at XMas every year with my folks. This is it for us though. I called my mom today and told her about what it will cost to have passes that work over XMas and she's done too now.

DH texted me "sell the DVC" today. I've been waiting for that text for a LONG time. It's just gotten ridiculous with the cost of the passes, the fact that I can never get availibility at resorts I want when I want it anymore, etc. I'm glad to be done with DVC...trading in is cheap enough, but why bother if the passes are so expensive that we aren't going to the parks anyways?

we are also looking at selling, I know DVC doe not care if we sell, especially since we own BCV and they can sell it right back again. Buy we just cannot afford to go like we used to. We have used all of our points but next September we will list at least one of our two DVC for sale. We will keep the SSR because resale is bad and will either rent it out or use it for exchanges

I have never used their photpass always felt it to be to costly. So the annual pass gives it to me but I can't even see using it much

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that if you haven't yet activated you passes you will get a Platinum Pass when you do activate which includes no blackout dates and including photo pass. No refund or downgrading though.

I emailed Disney about this and I was told I would get the old dvc AP, not the new platinum. But I could pay the difference and upgrade if I so choose...

The price is higher even for the Gold so no refund but you could upgrade at least one of the AP's to a Gold for approx $20 and get the photopass option.

That would seem to be incorrect information - which sadly isn't that unusual for calling in. A WDW ticket person and reports are all saying that any new activations will be one of the new pass. The old passes don't exist any more so it's impossible to sell them. Passes that are already active are the ones that will continue as is until they expire sometime in the next year.

I renewed my AP about 3 weeks ago. My current AP expires in November 12, but my upcoming trip isn't until after my current pass expires. I wanted. To be able to make FP for our November trip (11/16-11/22). So I am confused - do I have an active pass or an inactive pass?

Yes, this is the new problem resulting from over complicated changes. If you go up to a Guest Services window and the Cast Member tells you something you don't believe to be true, leave and go to another Guest Services Cast Member and you may get the correct info. This has been going on since the beginning of MDE. So complicated even Disney employees aren't sure.

I have the same situation as you and have yet to get an answer that applies specifically to a DVC AP Renewal. I have a will call number for my renewal but no certificate. Any responses I have seen say certificates will get the platinum pass. Is my will call # a "certificate"? If I bought a FL seasonal pass renewal I would expect gold but since I bought a regular AP renewal with no blackouts it shouldn't matter that it is DVC. I'm not a FL resident so that shouldn't play into the situation. Non-discounted AP's, DVC AP's & FL Resident AP's are all the same ticket media (the old ones), the only difference is the price. That should not be a factor in issuing a renewal as all renewals are discounted also. Seeing people saying that since my renewal is a discounted rate that is only equivalent to the Gold Pass doesn't fly with me. If I had bought a new AP everything says I get Platinum. It shouldn't matter that it's a renewal it should still be Platinum. I should be getting the Platinum since I bought a regular AP even though it's a discounted price. MS is telling people they can keep non-blackout but won't get the PhotoPass. Some are being told if they want the PhotoPass they have to pay about $20 more for that feature but then you have the blackout dates. If you don't want the blackout dates then you have to pay about $100 more. If you don't want the PhotoPass too bad. Ticketing CM's are saying there is no option in the system to issue any AP's under the old terms. If I need to go to a ticket window to activate with my will call # I don't consider it to be active yet but who knows? I hope someone who trades in a DVC Renewal that wasn't bought prior to the official 60 day renewal time frame reports in soon so we know what type AP they were actually issued.

What, did you think all those amazing announcements at D23 were going to be free? Sure, go ahead and sell your DVC contract, Disney or someone else will be more than happy to snatch it up from you. Disney vacations are a luxury, not an entitlement for anyone, even DVC members. If you cant afford it, someone else can.

If we don't find out from some one before hand, I will be happy to report back after I go.

Regarding "Will Call" bought before Oct. 4th, DVC or not the AP renewal is available starting 60 days before expiration to 30 days after the purchase date of the pass your renewing. Using the "will call" pick up option does not change the renewal purchase date. SO, you would receive the old pass without the PP or you could upgrade to the new Platinum with the PP.

According to Ticketing CM's they can not issue the old type passes despite what member services is publishing & telling members. My current pass expires on Nov 1 so I know that my new one will have the same expiration but 2016. I'm not trying to change the "renewal purchase date" as that should have no bearing on anything. Since the Ticketing CM's can not issue anyone the "old pass" we still haven't gotten any confirmation of what is actually being issued to DVC AP Renewals that were done through MS that they processed as "Will Call" since in the past they used to send a voucher/card.

I spoke with a CM yesterday and was told that for DVC member a NEW not yet activated AP are platinum with NO block out dates, my guess is since it is platinum it includes photo pass

So, would my AP that I renewed a few weeks ago but have not activated yet be a platinum too?
