DVC Annual Meeting 2021?

Very entertaining meeting. I will elaborate more later. All I can say is this board is evasive. Did you know we now have a Member representative?
I thought all the board members were owners, therefore Member representatives. Are you saying we have a rep who’s not a Disney employee?

So after all the board members were introduced, we learned we now have a new “ Member representative “. A question was asked why all of a sudden we have this new board member, when we’re they appointed, and what is their role. Quickly this question was dismissed and referred to the website for submission.I was amazed how quick they cut off this member and refused to acknowledge the question. Unbelievable.

It was clear that this board does not care about its members. At the end, when other people wanted to speak, they were cut off abruptly. Members shouted “ Can’t you give us 10 more minutes? What is 10 more minutes?” They refused and closed the meeting. Unreal.

Questions were asked relating to the budget, as those were the only questions they would take. A member asked why it took them 11 months to get them the budget data requested. Also this member asked why, pertaining to SSR, certain areas of the budget were not decreased more given the resort was closed for 3 months due to Covid? The board member responsible for the numbers said outside people audit these numbers. What was not discussed is that while these numbers may be verified from an outside agency, they do not question what gets audited.

So, is it time to break out the torches and pitchforks and march on BRV, or do we think there’s a chance the refurb will actually happen soon? I get that they were non-committal, as always, but what was the sense in the room?

Another member questioned the boards comments how dues went up due to increasing wages to $15/hr. They wanted to let the board know what type of cast members they are hiring at these wages ( sited an example of how they were rude, etc). Again, board apologized and referred them to the website to submit their grievances.

After this meeting, I hope someone gets a campaign going and demand a timeline for this refurb. I am not an owner at BRV, but an email campaign is ongoing about the omission of microwaves and mini fridges in the new resort studios at VGF. They are responding to them.

I'm shocked they couldn't even manage to report on a date or at least month when the BRV renovation will start nor provide some design artwork? Nor the standard presenting of refurb schedules to back up capital budgets for them? It's nice to see more of a refund coming back from VGC but it still seems a little small for a closure of over a year. The rooms there comprise a very tiny part of the resort so minimal maintenance should have been minimally charged.

And not even a packaged cookie? A little sugar sounds like it might have helped. Health and safety when they're steps away from packed parks, hotels and restaurants. They really do think we (members) are just moronic sheeple but that of course is nothing new.

That's what I suggested months ago after the latest point charts debacle. Maybe they actually read this board.
But how was this person selected? How to contact them?

Let us know if you find something out. They were obviously taken back and unprepared to answer the question.

To the best of my knowledge, the position of "member representative" has always existed and has a formal say in administration of the program. DVC/DVD controls the position and is unlikely to ever relinquish such control.

Karen Grip was introduced as the rep the last 3 years. Ironically, in 2019 Terri Schultz acknowledged that they've done a poor job of making the member rep accessible to members, and vowed to address that shortcoming. Maybe the feedback website is supposed to help fill that role?

Thanks for the information. Given that the Member Feedback web address given during the meeting leads to the same “new and improved” email form available under Contact Us on the member website, I’m not sure that much of anything has changed.

The best part of the whole meeting was getting to sit beside the amazing Kriegers.🤗

How can the new VGF studios not have the usual fridge & micro? Aren't they more square footage than the existing studios?

Yes, the rooms are bigger. But, DVD has decided to make them a resort studio with different amenities than the deluxe studio…

So, two beds..like OKW…daybed, and then only a beverage cooler and coffee pot. Nothing requires them to include those.

However, if they get negative feedback about the new rooms, especially from new buyers, they can always make the change and add those things,
