DVC announced a Polynesian Villas & Bungalows webcast

Just finished watching about an hour ago. It was definitely long on "buy DVC" and low on what the Poly actually has to offer.

I was surprised how little of the Poly they showed. It was filmed before the opening. Very strange to have a webcast with outdated information. They mention about a tiki eventually being added to the lobby centerpiece and show a picture of the proposed pool design. Those have been completed for at least a couple weeks.

Thankfully people post so much information to Tikiman's Facebook page that we see much more recent information than the webcast had.

I registered to watch the webcast on the 25th (yesterday) and never did get the email reminder.

So I went back to the confirmation email and was able to access the video from that.

I was totally underwhelmed. Maybe that's because we already know so much about the resort, rooms, etc.

I think it's time they bring back Samantha Brown! :)

I agree, bring back Samantha Brown. Show the features of the resort, not a family looking at the place. This video would not have gotten me to look into buying. Why did they show the unfinished pool?

As a marketing tool, showing a family who says that Disney and DVC is responsible for their getting married and having wonderful vacations at wonderful resorts all over the world is what they were after. Disney will sell more PVB contracts to new buyers than add-ons to existing owners so that was their target.

I received my reminder today and watched. I am a Samantha Brown fan but also like Carter and thought he did a fine job. It was about what I expected although honestly without any incentives attached to the webcast for the resort they highlighted (Poly) it didn't seem to be as great of a selling tool as it used to be when they offered something for the new resort.

And in this day and age of instant media it did seem a little behind the times that it couldn't have been done a little more timely. I think the tiki in the Poly lobby has been up for some time and it probably would have been a better sales tool if they could have shown the pool, hot tub and water play area. At least the pool has been open for a couple of weeks.

The lead time for Disney can take months. The finished webcast had to be approved by legal and regulatory and that's hoping that they didn't require any changes.

For filming things such as areas of the resort that could be done at any time - if they wished.

Maybe but they still approve the final product. We were at BLT when they filmed the marketing video just after it opened. They filmed an English and Spanish version with multiple takes and actors over several days. Talking to CM's and production people it was clear that doing Disney was extra work due to the approval process that everything went through.

Many of the extra takes were in case a shot or scene failed to get approved. Anyone filmed even in the background had to sign a release.

Just watched, the video. Cool to have a look in at Disney anytime. Though, as a seling point, terrible timing! Poly with scaffolding up, construction workers in the background, and artist renderings a plenty!

Rooms look better every time they show them. So much cool stuff in the rooms.

I wish they would put as much effort and quality control into the booking website.

I saw a advertisement thingy on FB today, followed the link, signed up to watch it today and then watched it immediately. The bungalows look very cool but we'll never get a chance to use them as we only own enough points to afford 2 nights in Adventure season. I can't see us blowing a whole years worth of points for just 2 nights. We will definitely try to get a studio next summer tho.

The booking website doesn't make Disney money, the marketing does. The new DVC management obviously doesn't see any reason to spend time and our money if it doesn't increase Disney's bottom line. They even cancelled the DVC buyer referral program.

I want to do a DVC tour when I go down in May at the Poly. Does anyone know if they are offering that?
TIA :goodvibes
