We have just purchased an ipad and would love to bring it along (from the UK) with us for our up-coming trip to the Treehouse Villas, but was not sure how to connect to wi fi in the villa. Last year we had to use the plug in connection in the master bedroom for our Arcos but would much prefer to use the ipad. Has anyone else managed to use their ipad at DVC accommodation?

Many thanks

Susan

I have an Apple AirPort Express that I purchased as refurbished from the apple online store. It looked brand new and works perfectly with my iPad and iPhones. I did set it up an home first to enable security so that only those who know the password can connect.

You bring a wireless router (has to be one that will plug in and work the US; don't know if there is a difference with UK but possibility that you might need a plug adapter if you buy UK version) such as Apple's Airport Express and you plug it in and connect to the ethernet wall socket via an ethernet cord and you have wireless in the room that the Ipad, Ipod touches, and laptop computers will work with.

Wi-Fi at Disney accommodations is not available. Many people bring their own wireless router to set up a Wi-Fi network in their rooms though. I personally bring my Apple Airport Express to set up a Wi-Fi network for myself when at Disney so that I'm not tethered to a cat-5 cable. The airport express is good because it's small and basically all I've ever needed to do was hook up the cables and plug it in. It's dimensions are about 4"x4"x1" so it doesn't take up a lot of space. in your luggage. It you do set up a wireless network remember to also set up the security so you are protected.

It is easy to set up. Do you just plug it in when you get there.

Many thanks

I would suggest you buy an airport express and set it up at home to make sure it works. Then you can just plug it in wherever you stay and your computer will recognize it and connect.

I was told last week from another diser that a 3G iPad would work without any needed connections.

Yes, but you will be using your iPads data plan. Since members get free internet when staying on reservations made by MS, I prefer to take a wireless router because WiFi on the iPad is free.

It be very expensive for us as we are from the UK and only get free 3G in the UK.

Feeling very positive abut using the Ipad now - just need to get the airport express

Thank you everyone
