forgive me if this has been asked a million times or if it is silly.... We are new to DVC and taking first trip this summer. In the past pre DVC I always bought tickets as part of a package so our tickets were just linked to our room cards. Now as DVC member how does it work if I buy through the disney site do they link to my room card? If I buy tickets from another vendor do I just get a seperate ticket? Just curious how it works.
Thanks a bunch!

The conigre desk can add tickets to your room card. Sign up for mousesavers monthly emails. They will give a link to the Undercover Tourist website for an even bigger discount on tickets. FYI, there tickets include tax and have free shipping.

Now that you're DVC you may find your vacation habits change to include longer or multiple stays per year. We find the best bang for our buck with an AP. We figure after the DVC member discount it only takes about 8 park days to pay for itself so we usually plan 2 or 3 trips within a years time to take full advantage of them. They are good for 365 days from activation so if you can hit either a 2nd trip within that time or plan 1 long trip of 8 days or more you'd probably benefit from the AP's (they include some discounts on shopping and the ability to buy the TIW card for only $75).:thumbsup2 They would of course be separate tix in addition to your room keys.

Another option is purchasing a 10 day, no expiration, hopper.

We don't visit the parks every day during our visits, so we can get up to three years out of our hoppers. DH just bought me one for my upcoming birthday, and I believe it was $600. He called DVC and bought it through them. I don't know if they gave a discount, but I know AAA does.

I believe if you are going to go twice in one year a total of 5 days in the parks breaks you even. 2day adult parhopper=223. 3day ph=287. total of 510. DVC memeber annual pass=446. and if you did just one park for 2 days and another for 3 the price would be an even 400, so just one hop puts you over break even. but as i look more a 10 day no expiration with PH is only $571....so many options, but i like the AP because of the many discounts

unless i were buying an AP with the DVC discount, i would never buy directly from disney.

the undercovertourist / mousesavers option is a good one. i think mapleleaftickets and allears have a similar deal. AAA sometimes has good prices but usually the other online options are better in my experience.

Even if you plan to only go on one trip a year, the AP can still be the best option. If you skew your trip by one week the following year, you can easily get two trips on one AP pass.

Even before DVC offered the $100 discount on APs, we always purchased them and cycled our trips so we would get two on one AP. Now we tend to take 2-3 trips a year, so it's not uncommon to get 23-28 days on each AP. The good thing to know is that Disney actually gives you 366 days on an AP instead of 365.

That's exactly what I do! :goodvibes

I purchased 10 day park hoppers in 2/10, made trips 6/10, 1/11, 8/11 and now, we have been here 5 nights and have done 2 parks days, i think i have about 3 days left on the passes. There is so much to do outside the parks we just dont go in as much. And when we do, we hit rides, one day this week we hit 3 parks in one day!

Also have old tickets with thr 10pluses so have been spending days in the water parks. You may find with DVC you dont spend as much time as you used to in the parks because you know you will be back!

Another option for discounted Park Tickets is the Disney YES Program. If you have any children in grades K-12, Individual Enrollment may be offered during your summer trip!
There is a thread all about it here:

Does any one have any ticket purchasing ideas for a West Coaster who will probably spend no more than 4 to 5 days at Disneyland a year? The AP with unrestricted dates is $499, I believe. The 10 day option sounds interesting. Also, I think that the DVC discount for Disneyland tickets is only $20. How can I get the most bang for my buck on ticket purchases?
