Has anyone figured out a way to use DVC points and still get free dining when it is offered by Disney? Thanks in advance for the help, sorry if this has already been addressed. - Jennie

A few times. But search doesn't always work very well.

There is no way you can get free dining without purchasing a package of at least three days directly through Disney. I don't think the AAA packages will include free dining, but not sure.

Any member can purchase a package directly from Disney for the going rate. No discount on this.

The free dining is just a way to fill the rooms at a time when they normally would be available - school is starting (can't take the kids out now) and hurricane season (Late Aug and Sept are prime times).

No, I think free dining is only offered to resort guests who are paying rack rate (cash) for their hotel room. The only way to get any dining plan when using your DVC points is to pay for it.

Free dining is only offered because Disney wants to fill up its resort rooms during an iffy "hurricane prone" season. There would be no point in giving us DVCers all our meals free!! They already have our room money...:rotfl:

If you have four adults sharing a one-bedroom or studio you AND need to purchase park tickets, it may save you money to make a concurrent reservation at a value resort with free dining.

Cost for 5 Nights @ Pop Standard Room: $691.56 (with taxes)
Cost for 5 Nights of DDP for 4 adults: $809.19 (with taxes @ 6.5%)

Savings generated by booking "Free Dining": $117.67

Aren't taxes already included in the price of DDP? If they are, then the actual cost of 5 nights of DDP is $759.80, leaving a savings of only $68.24. Probably not worth the trouble of checking in and out at two resorts.

Rent points
Use funds received to book a Disney room with free dining.

That's the only way to use points and get free dining that I can figure out.
