DVC add-ons if you have less than 150pts

Here's a scenario:

I buy a 50 point contract at Vero Beach to become a DVC owner.

I decide I want to buy an add-on from DVC- say 25 points at BwV.

Will they sell me the small add-on? Or would they want me to buy enough to get up to 150 points?

If I had only 25 points at BwV, could I make a reservation at 11 months that requires 75 points? Would all of those points need to come from a BwV contract? Or is it simply enough to own some points there, and you can fill in with your points from other places?


I have a trip the first week in October and we are "renting" points to stay at BCV. I think I want to buy DVC, but the idea of buying 150 points at SSR seems like too much to start with. We just don't have that much vacation time! I expect we would only use 60 points a year- really. I know, everything changes when you have all of those points. We might decide to stay in a 1 BR or invite friends along and need more than one unit. But still, I'm not even sure we'll make this an annual event. <sigh> We really can't afford this trip, and here I am, trying to justify the expense of going every year!!

We did something similar, got a 50 point OKW contract resale, and then did a 25 point add-on through Disney, has worked out great for us, we have limited vacation time also. The 11 month advanced reservation points must come from the corresponding resort, but with banking, borrowing and juggling you can use 3 years worth at a time, and alternate which contract you use.

No you only get the 11 month window on point you own at the resort. You would have 11 months at VERO on the 50 points and 11 months at BWV on the 25 points.
