fyi-was told by supervisor that DVC 25th Anniv. tickets can only be upgraded to AP. You cannot add extra day, etc. to them. today is last day to buy them. I got a 6 day instead of 5 day, as we might want the extra day.

You can "upgrade" any ticket, but I really don't like using that word. It's really more of an "exchange." The problem with upgrading the DVC tickets is that tickets purchased directly from Disney are not "bridged" to the current gate price. So, if you want to add a day, you'll pay the gate price for the new ticket, and only receive credit for the price you paid for the current ticket.

But I can assure you, with 99.98% confidence, that the supervisor was wrong. These tickets should be upgrade-able; it's just that there's no benefit to buying them if you plan to upgrade.

not all tickets can be exchanged/upgraded--convention, comp tickets cannot. I was told that this is a "special" ticket and that the only upgrade is to AP and that you cannot add extra days. At first the CM said yes, then checked and said no b/c of the special ticket. I have upgraded, bridged with Disney tickets before. Maybe the supervisor was wrong, but maybe not. I just bought an extra day (which we might not use) for $10 to be safe.

The special DVC ticket last year specifically had a notation it could not be upgraded. This one did not. I think others have also inquired and were told it could be upgraded. But as we know answers are nothing if not inconsistent. :rolleyes1

As Kat says, I think they're reading from the 2014 promotion's restriction.

So is there no benefit to using the tickets 1st and then upgrading to an AP?

What about adding park hoppers? I was told by MS that it could be done at the resort.

You would pay the gate price for your ticket with the hopping option and receive credit for the price you paid. Essentially, you will lose the discount and have to pay the increased price.

That would mean MS lied to me.... Just called MS again... yup. They told me "the wrong info" before I bought them.

I was just told that because the tickets are no longer available, they can't be added to or upgraded in any way. It sounds like MS wasn't to sure on the info when they started selling them and a lot of people for wrong info. I was told I could try at GR, but doubt anything could be done.

When it comes to tickets, don't trust the people on the phone. Tickets can only be upgraded in person. There are very few restrictions when it comes to upgrading tickets. Since Disney knows what you paid for them, they will apply that value towards a new ticket. But they will not be "bridged."

I brought that up, as I know that's what is normally done. The supervisor said it wasn't possible with special run, limited tickets. Because they are no longer available, nothing can be done. It's just frustrating to be told 2 different things from CMs in the same department. When I called today the CM had no clue. Which makes me wonder what she herself was telling people when she sold them to members.

So, I have the physical media for these "special tickets" and they aren't any different than any other card I've received in the past. I'll have to check when I get home as to whether or not there is any special verbiage on the back. Still, when a CM runs them through the machine, they should show up as an n-day ticket.

Any update on this? I purchased myself a 25 anniversary ticket with 5 days for when DH and I go in October. However, I ended up just renewing my AP since I decided to go again (and again actually, lol) within the year. I have reassigned that ticket to DS but really want to add an extra day to it if possible. If I can't, I think we are just gonna relax in the morning and then hit MVMCP in the afternoon/evening on our extra day.

Probably a better plan, anyway. You'll enjoy the party much more if you are rested. As I remember, the best time for rides is from after Holiday Wishes to the very end. Especially true because you can get in as early as 4 pm with just your party ticket. The parties have gotten so expensive that one hates to pay for a day in addition to the party (JMHO. YMMV). You'll probably get on more rides during the party than you will the morning & afternoon before it begins. Have fun!

Thanks! If we can add the extra day we may skip the party all together since it has gotten so expensive. I know hindsight's 20/20 but I just wish I would have bought a 6 or 7 day ticket when I bought it. We NEVER visit for just 5 days when we go as a family or just me with the kids. But my October trip is just me and hubby for a conference for him and I knew we would be staying for only 4 or 5 days, so I thought I was erring on the side of caution. Then DD and I decided to add a pre-graduation trip in May of 2017 and just yesterday, booked for December for the kids and I, lol. Lots of planning lately!

Officially, it would be a ticket exchange; you'd get credit for the price you paid and then pay the list price for the new ticket, thus losing any discount from the original purchase.

In practice, it seems some CM's have no idea how to handle these tickets, so they somehow force through an extra credit for the difference.
