DVC 1,000 Point Club (2025)

Not sure if aspiring club 1000 members are allowed here (up to 460, just gotta get the wife on board!), but I'm curious - those of you with these high level of points, how do you generally use your points? A lot of nights at the park? Best rooms? Cruises? Renting? Trying to gather info as I'm almost halfway there with some future additions in mind!
I purused this board before I got 1000 and when I said I would not ever get to 1000.

I have been a member less than year. So far our points have been used to stay in larger accommodations (2 beds and 1 beds) to go to Aulani where the point chart can be pretty high, to go more times than I normally would have (special trip for MM), and I have more trips already on the books. I have also rented some points via a cruise swap for a cruise next year.

We haven't been 1K+ members long but have yet to rent out points or use them for a cruise. We go to the parks like 4-6 times a year (4 nights when DLR and 7 for WDW). Just doing 1 bedrooms eats through our points so when we want to do a GV or even a 2 bedroom it likely causes a studio for one of the trips (ewwwww). haha.

I know im going to need more points than i currently have for next year because I really want to stay in one and two bedrooms only and we travel twice a year 2-3 weeks each time and stay cations as well ugh lol

That's great, thanks for the info all! We essentially got three fully loaded contracts at the end of 24/into 25 so an effective 920 points that we could use in 25 if we wanted to without borrowing. It's going to my head a bit! We have 24 nights at the park booked for 25 for 545 points this year, so I can see how bumping all of those up to 1 or 2 bedrooms would eat it up fast.

Buying fully loaded contracts will for sure get you used to having more points.

Pretty much longer stays in a 1 bedroom - I tried a studio for the first time last year - I didn’t like it. Also have a daughter, nieces and nephews with littles now that want to come to WDW and I get them their own 1 bedroom. And long weekends at HH in either a 2 bedroom or GV…those really eat up points.

Staying in DVC 1+ bedrooms are kind of like flying first class. Can you go back to flying coach? Yes. Do you want to? No. Haha. But if money/points are tight, I can remind myself that middle seats exist :-).
We are at 925 points and will probably stay there. So no being in this club! If I add on it will be more GCH. We have always stayed in 1br or bigger! When we take our DD and the grandkids we go for a 2br. This fall we are springing for a grand villa in Jambo AKV. More points means more flexibility! I don't think we will ever stay in a studio!
We usually go for between 10 to 15 days in WDW and 5 to 7 days in DLR. With our current points we can do this multiple times a year. We have also rented when we can't go, but that is very rare.

I would not buy into a timeshare to stay in a glorified hotel room… villas all the way…

how do you generally use your points?

Mostly to treat others and enjoy our trips with friends and family. Hosting some family this summer at VGC, did 2 weeks at WDW last year with a close family friend. We also try and host a larger family reunion on a few year cycle that can easily cost us 1800 to 2400 points for the rooms. Rent a few too but mostly use all of them.

If we had to use all the points for just our family that would be a lot of stays.

We also tend to stay in larger rooms

I sent a message to @MrsNVDISFamily today about our trip to DLR in July. I called our few nights in a Garden Studio our pregame stay to prep for our 5 night stay in the VGC Grand Villa. I got funny message back kind of indicating that I was a silly spoiled idiot….. :)

I’m a proud nerd - and I like to wear nice dresses!

@MrsNVDISFamily sadly won’t let me near her dresses but she does allow me to sport a kilt from time to time :P

I do like those Garden Suites at VDH….

Have not rented any points to anyone because we're using them. So much so that last month I was out of 2024 and 2025 use year points and had to wait until April 1st to borrow from 2026. How annoying that I couldn't book an impromptu getaway the last weekend of March! I almost bought more points!

Best part of the points is sharing them with friends and family - living vicariously through the happiness of others is the best way to live.

DVC owners since 2009. We’ve never rented our points or exchanged them for a cruise/non DVC resort. At WDW we usually stay at BCV, VGF, poly, or BLT. At DL we only stay at VGC. In terms of non park resorts, we have stayed at AUL but never HHI or VB.

We stay 3 times per year, 7 to 9 nights at a time. We never stay in studios - part of the vacation experience for us is having space to spread out and relax. If it’s just my spouse and I we usually get a 1BR. If my MIL is with us, we’ll get a 2BR. We also use the points to stay in a poly bungalow or a copper creek cabin.

For the most part, we have enough points but I would really like to pick up an additional 100 at VGC.
