DVC 1,000 Point Club (2025)

2950 is an insane number to even contemplate sitting on @ehh how you haven’t already purchased a perfect little 50pt direct contract just ready to have that beautiful I love you (DVC) 3000 is beyond me. You’re made of stronger stuff :sad2:
We were on the Wonder last week with some friends and the DVC booth with the daily gifts was unusually pushy with sales tactics. Not just to us, but also our friends who have 200-425 points.

Our friends with 200pts are relatively new members (only own at VDH) and flat out didn't want to stop at the booth after day 1 because of her pushiness, even though it was their first cruise and they didn't already have any of the gifts.

We only went back on the last day because they had a new-to-us magnet. During that interaction, I don't think she had visibility to the 160 resale points in the process of closing, so she only saw our current 2790 and she was still hounding us with "don't you want to get to 3000??" Can't imagine what she would have been like if we were at 2950 then.

Anyway, I very much do not want to get to 3000 right now after that.

And we don't have a clear use for more points. We do have a few stays over the course of this year that will determine next points purchases, if any, though.

It's inevitable that when the product starts resembling other timeshare systems (i.e., resale restrictions), ths sales tactics will go that way too.

But if it goes that way, maybe we'll start getting $300+ "bribes" to attend 90+ minute high pressure sales pitches, and maybe (🤞) they'll offer "point washing" to entice resale owners to buy more direct. Unless they offer a VGF-like fire sale again, I don't see us buying more direct without an attractive point washing program.

What Common Resort Pairings Are There Among 1,000pt Club Owners?
Living Lodge Edition

A focus on the DVC resorts at Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Sorry for the delay between these! Work kicked my butt for a few weeks and then I was at DL and on a cruise.

Animal Kingdom Villas
AKV is the most owned of the three Lodge DVCs among 1,000pt Club, just barely eking a lead ahead of CCV.

Kind of like Riviera, the co-ownership of AKV is pretty neutral. The only really big surprise/unique co-owned resort is Vero!

After Vero, there's some common ownership with Copper Creek then the usual VGF/BLT that are pervasive with their overall ownership profile.

In terms of resorts that AKV owners don't own at, the two at the bottom are VDH and OKW, which themselves have no ownership overlap, very interesting!

AKV owners own at an average of 5.31 resorts and own an average of 1,620pts. Both are roughly midpack figures.

Copper Creek
I think I was surprised by how many 1,000pt Club members own at Copper Creek, with 1/3rd of members owning here despite it being a fairly small resort. For context, AKV has 1 percentage points more ownership but ~125% more points sold.

Maybe somewhat surprisingly, the Poly has the strongest co-ownership representation!

But like AKV, Copper Creek is also fairly mundane, no major surprise/unique co-ownership patterns here.

Like other resorts with a high-overlap alternative option but a large age difference (RIV x BCV/BWV, for example), there's not a lot of co-ownership across CCV and BRV.

Vero comes in at the bottom with zero co-ownership for CCV owners. AUL/VDH/OKW are also seldom co-owned, at least relatively speaking.

In terms of broader ownership stats, Copper Creek owners own at an average of 5.32 resorts and 1,773pts. Number of resorts is midpack, but the number of points is fairly high!

Boulder Ridge
Not gonna lie, when thinking about DVC resorts I forget about BRV more than the others. I blame the name change from Wilderness Lodge Villas. But also it's genuinely not that popular among 1,000pt Club owners, coming in at just 10.7% ownership.

Boulder Ridge done broke my charts. All the other resorts had a max of 125 on the 'composite score' charts...but Boulder Ridge needed me to increase that to 300!

Why? Apparently Boulder Ridge 1,000pt Club owners also love Hilton Head! And even if it Hilton Head weren't here, the Poly also would have broken the chart with a 129!

So I guess BRV owners love Hilton Head and the Poly. But even #3 and #4 on the list, BWV and BCV, have pretty high scores too!

At the bottom end, BRV owners seem to have something against VGC...I wonder what. Then there's the duo of VDH and OKW, who are coming up unloved in this Living Lodge update despite being dissimilar resorts.

In terms of broader ownership stats, Boulder Ridge owners own at an average of 6 resorts, which is quite high. However, they own just 1,482pts on average, the lowest of any resort.

Approaching the end of this analysis. The Hallway Hater resorts (OKW and SSR) are up next and I'll finally wrap up at the Atlantic beach resorts (HHI and VBR).

Well my 40 point OKW posted yesterday, so now at 1055 points. Will pause for a while. Going to use 65 points to purchase my Sorcerer's renewal. Probably purchase the 12 OTU points and get the 12 point bonus with my MMB. So will need to use 41 points plus the 24.

We went to the DVC presentation on the Fantasy this past February and, wow, did that presentation suck. I would've never bought. I couldn't even make sense of what he was saying towards the end. Have to admit I did kind of nod off during the last 10 minutes. At least our in-laws got the Hai-Hai out of it. Geez.

As an engineer, I thought I was a nerd....then I came here!
I don’t feel very nerdy when I see my wife put on a nice dress to go to dinner at Flying Fish, Citricos, Napa Rose, or Ama Ama!

That just doesn’t happen often in our two kids lifestyle…. Except on these Disney trips!

Nerds can have wives who wear nice dresses right?

I’m up to 1651 points now…
425 at HH
279 at VGF
224 at WLV/BRV
181 at BLT
160 at SS
154 at Poly
141 at BC
87 at BWV
On the prowl for a few more BWV cause I really don’t like studios and BC because I like to split (5 nights or so each) between MK resort and an Epcot resort each trip and I don’t like RIV…
I’m old so I really don’t care about the 2042 expiration date.

Not sure if aspiring club 1000 members are allowed here (up to 460, just gotta get the wife on board!), but I'm curious - those of you with these high level of points, how do you generally use your points? A lot of nights at the park? Best rooms? Cruises? Renting? Trying to gather info as I'm almost halfway there with some future additions in mind!

A combo of long stays / grand villas / bringing friends and family. Very easy to get through the points!

Have fun on your journey to 1000 points 😁
