DVC 1,000 Point Club (2025)

Serious question for everyone with 1000+ points. What do you do with them all? Do you vacation that much, love grand villas, or rent out the excess points to fund the others? Something else? We only have 150pts right now but could see us using as much as 600.

Next summer, I have 2 rooms at BCV for a week followed by 8 nights in a GV at CCV / SSR for 10 of us. Quite easy to spend points if you try hard enough!

Ha. Yeah I imagine the more points you have the more ways you can find to use them! 😃

I think it helps that we are DL locals with no kids, so stays at DLR are easy and overall not at the mercy of school schedules. Flights to AUL are about the same as flights to WDW. We have increased our annual AUL stay to 2 for hubs and me and one more for me solo. WDW trips have dropped from 4 to 3 times a year. We don’t rent, still need more points so we do more 1-bedrooms and Poly tower is point-heavy.

I use them all. I go quite frequently. Have a large family so almost always get 2 bedroom villas. I love to bring people that may no otherwise go. It can go quick. I haven’t done big splurges yet like bungalows or cabins but I see that in the near future as well. Staying in a grand villa for the first time next summer.

As someone above posted, you will find a way to use them.

We usually travel 2-3 times per year staying 7-9 nights per trip in either a 1 BR or a 2 BR. Our usual pattern is WDW in early May (VGF or poly bungalow), WDW in late October (usually BCV), and AUL or VGC in January or February. If we travel to WDW in the winter, we pick a CCV cabin. 1 of those 3 trips is with my MIL - so we get the 2 BR and 2 of the 3 are generally just spouse and I so we get a 1 BR. At AUL we get OV (again 1 or 2 BR). We did recently (summer 2024) buy 400 BLT points resale with the intent of using those to get 8 nights in a poly bungalow every 1 to 2 years and/or an oceanfront GV at AUL and/or a GV at BLT.

I almost talked myself into 200 more VGC points a few weeks ago but restrained myself. It seems like the more DVC points you get, the more you need.

I think that is the tricky part, not allowing yourself to buy more than you need.

You can always find a way to spend them through larger accommodations even without going more frequently.

I'm about to talk myself into more points anyway though 😂

I go every spring staying at an Epcot resort for 4-5 nights then moving on to VGF for 4-5 nights, fall is the same as except alternate between BLT and the new PIT as my MK resort and then again in Dec with WL/BRV as my MK resort…in a 1BR. I also go for long weekends at HH with family 2x a year staying in a 2 BR or GV…and usually the day before and after a WDW in a 1BR at HH since it’s kind of a half way point for me. Then every couple of years I get extra rooms (1 or 2 BR) for various nieces and nephews and their families to stay.

We go 4-5 times a year; the longest trip is 3 weeks in October. Always stay in 1 bedrooms and splurge for the cabin at CCV at Christmas time. There is usually one or two trips for family or close friends and we sometimes rent out points to help pay for our cruises.

We started with 250 points at BWV way back in 1997. 1000 points seemed a luxury. Now we have grandkids and have added on at BLT, AKV, and VDH. Grand total is 800. 1000 does not feel like a luxury anymore, but more of a necessity! Really enjoy this thread. Thanks!

Really enjoy hearing how everyone uses their points. My dream would be to have enough points for my wife and I to spend a month at DW every winter at retirement. Sounds like I need to start shopping for more points!:)

We spent the month of December at Old Key West pre-pandemic. It was great! No pressure to do anything. Plenty of time for multiple trips to parks. The only thing I would do differently is not to go to Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day. Not all that magical. Way too many people to even breathe. OKW was fantastic. 2 bedroom villa has a ton of room and it was really easy on the points.

Now we do 2 weeks at a time. Still gives us enough time to do everything without being pressured or rushed. If you pick you times and resorts it does not take all that many points. Our perfect trip would be a week at BWV and a week at BLT followed by a week at AKV.

I think that we've finally hit the point where annual dues outweigh adding more points.

I plan to stop with this next 200 point Poly contract. At 3,026 points, I think I will have every combination of grand villas, cabins, bungalows and TPV rooms I can conceive each year. No question the dues are serious, but so is my obsession with visiting WDW every month and booking DCL boats!
