Hi! I have some gift cards and I was thinking of getting a Dutch oven from Amazon. I can not afford a Le Crueset, although I am sure they're fabulous. I saw a cuisinart one as well as an all-clad one in my budget. (I can spend 100. I want it to last years). Has anyone had experience with a Dutch oven they recommend? For every positive review on amazon, there is a negative one as well so I can't tell which one is reliable. Also, is TJMaxx really that much cheaper? If so I'll go there..

Also, is it really that much cheaper at TJMaxx?

I bought a Mario Batalli (sp?) from Crate and Barrel for a gift this past Christmas and the receiver loves it (Friend's 15 year old DD, who isnpires to be a chef). It was a 6 qt on sale for $120. I bought myself a 5 qt La Cruset about 6 years ago at Marshall's for $100, I was not able to find them at Marshalls or TJ Maxx during holiday times so I went with Mario Batalli.

I assume you are wanting an enamel cast iron dutch oven. We have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Lodge-Color-D...94886&sr=8-1&keywords=lodge+enamel+dutch+oven. Hopefully the link works!

And we love it! We got it from the Lodge Factory Outlet store in South Pittsburg, TN on our way back from Disney in 2008. It was the special when we were there, and we got three different sizes for about $79. It has held up really well (still looks new), and I couldn't be happier. I probably use them at least once a week except in the summer.

We also have several Lodge cast iron dutch oven (without the enamel finish) and we love those too. We use them for outdoor cooking.

Enjoy!

The enamel is easier to clean but it can also become chipped pretty easily. I actually prefer "regular" (unenameled) cast iron. The Lodge products are great and, I believe, made in the USA. I also have a camping set from Cabela's and their pre-seasoned line is fantastic. (Btw, I do outdoor dutch oven cook-offs so I know a "little" about cast iron!)

I have a calphalon one that I have had for almost 30 years and looks almost brand new. I have no idea how much they cost now, I would buy another one in a heartbeat!

I have a Lodge dutch oven (bright red with white interior) that I love. :)

I bought it at Target.

Dick's Sporting goods has the Lodge cast iron ones. DH got a 6 qt one for around $79.

I got an awesome one at Aldis, of all places, for $29. It does a fabulous job. They don't carry them all the time, but I've seen them a couple of times a year. Next time I'm getting a grill pan.

I have a 3 qt. Lodge and a 6 qt. LeCrueset. Neither one has chipped and I use them frequently. I've seen a lot of enameled cast iron at Homegoods (TJ Maxx's home store) for a good price.

I have 2 lodge Dutch ovens. I love them. I wanted the le cruset one but it was so expensive. The lodge was less than 1/2 the price and it great. I have bright blue.

Good luck!

I got mine from the food network line from kohls. I don't know if they have them at amazon. It's amazing, heats evenly and holds temp really well.

Looks like this one but it's 7 and a half quarts.

I got one from Marshalls about 10 years ago and it's still holding up. I can't imagine that you would find any dutch oven that WOULDN'T hold up, I mean, those things are sturdy!

I got mine at Sur Le Table on sale before Christmas. It was their brand and it was half price, $79

I have a Tramontina brand from Sams Club. I paid $39 for it and LOVE it. I found them last February at Sams for $29 so I bought 3 for Christmas gifts

I've only had mine for a year so I can't comment on it's longevity but so far so GREAT!

We've bought a few (all factory seconds-maybe have a little blemish that doesn't effect cooking) from both Lodge factory store in South Pittsburg, TN and the one in Sevierville, TN. If you call the stores, they will look if they have specifics in factory seconds and will ship them to you as well.

I have the red Lodge 6 qt. one and I love it. Had it about 4 years, has held up well. I think I paid 50+ for it at Wal Mart.

Amazon has the lodge 6 quart in Cafe Brown for $50 with prime right now. Other colors are higher priced.

I have the costco kirkland brand which is made in france and it is excellent. I have the round one and the grill pan. We use the grill pan all the time.

The dutch oven was last one on the shelf and cost me about $30 marked down - the grill pan was about 40 to 50...

Daughter bought the oval dutch oven and didn't like it as well as my round one.

Me, too. Although I think I only paid $20, but it was a few years ago.
