I've decided it's just time to come to terms with being the biggest idiot on the planet. I've been tormenting myself for months trying to get into this digital scrapbooking phase. It's supposed to be the greatest thing ever so I figured I needed to learn this dumb Photoshop and do it. I hate it more every day. It's just about all but taken all the fun out of scrapbooking for me. I'm over it. Is there anyone else out there with me? I say BE FREE!!

OMGoodness! Me, me me *raisely arm and waiving wildly* I've been playing around with Photoshope for a while now and I just can't get it. I can only get the elements to come up, but I can't actually get them together. It is SO frustrating.

I felt that way too when I first started playing. What you need is some good tutorials. They are step by step instructions that will help get you to know and understand the tools. I use Paint Shop Pro, but I am sure there are some good tutorials for Photoshop too. Of course, once you get the hang of it, it is just as addicting as regular scrapbooking! :rotfl:

Oh I am there with you -

I know use the programs to just add a few things here and there -
like title to a picture
or to crop out parts of a picture to make elements for the page...

good luck if you keep working at it!

sorry you are so frustrated with Photoshop. I did a few tutorials and will admit, that I probably have a lot more to learn, but I love Photoshop. I use it pretty much on a daily basis!

Have you tried some step by step tutorials? I can tell you this, don't get Photoshop for Dummies..........it is HORRIBLE!!!!

Can I join the non-digital revolution? I have a couple of digital scrapbook programs and I don't care for any of them. I have printed out some elements to use in a regular scrapbook but that's about all I've actually completed.

For me, it just takes the fun out of gluing, cutting, arranging, etc. Oh well - to each his own.

Let me clarify..........I use Photoshop for picture manipulation. I am not too much into the digital scrapbooking thing. It just isn't me. I have done a few, but I prefer to use Photoshop to play with my pictures more than scrapping.

Ugh! And I've done like three tutorials and they just make me madder and madder.

I agree with you, OP.
I bought one of the computer programs to try out the digital scrapping, and I hated it. It was really hard to figure out.
I think that I would rather just do it the traditional way!

There's a book called by Carla Rose called "Scrapbooking with Adobe Photoshop Elements 3"

If you go to your local library, they might have it or perhaps can get it from another library for you.

I'm on the waiting list for this book, so have no idea if its actually good or not.
Before I invest in Photoshop Elements, I wanted to read up on it and make sure it sounds like something I'd actually be able to figure out and have the patience for.

I'm headed to the library and might look for that - to torture myself some more I guess. I'll be surprised if my library has it though.

But I don't think, even if I get the program, I'd enjoy doing pages this way. It's just not relaxing! There's something about sitting down with my papers and scissors that makes me relax and this doesn't do that for me!! Plus, the pages look great on screen, and granted you have to look close sometimes in person to see a difference, but if you do look close, it's just like having a photo of your scrapbook page, not really "real" to me.

But I think I would like to be able to create elements and maybe even pages. I don't know.

ITA! I love Photoshop to edit my photos. It's really great. I just can't seem to get it to work for digi-scrapping. I even have a few step-by-step tutorials and I still don't get it. :rotfl2:

Well I'm sort of backwards too - I started out paperscrapping but I could never really get into it. Then a year later I found out about digiscrapping and loved it! Yes PSE has a steep learning curve but I'm also the kind of person who like graphics so it was a good fit for me.

Now that I've got the hang of digiscrapping and can create my own elements, it's lead me to take another look at paperscrapping and now I'm back into paperscrapping and loving that! Of course I think seeing all the paper layouts in my DIS CJ group has really helped me find my way back to paperscrapping.
