Dumb ? Re Jogging Strollers

Yes, there are dumb questions so here is mine...

My cousin called saying that her mom, my aunt, said that she could only bring a certain kind of stroller and not a jogging stroller to WDW. I told her that I didn't think that was right, but would check to see...

Can you bring a jogging stroller to the parks?

Thank you.. heading to WDW on Saturday, but trying to get over the flu...

Not sure if they aren't "allowed" or not... but....
If you are using Disney Transportation, either bus or monorail, I don't know that you'd WANT to bring it. You need to fold the stroller on the bus and on the monorail, if they request it. We took an umbrella stroller and it worked out great.

This isn't fact, but anecdotal; I have heard of them sometimes limiting the types of strollers brought into the parks. There was a thread recently about someone with a bicycle-towed stroller (that converted to push) not being allowed in, due to the metal towing bar sticking out in front.

I've seen jogging strollers in the parks. But since they don't fold, or won't fold easily, I doubt they're allowed on Disney transportation. I'd just get a $30 umbrella stroller for the trip, or rent from WDW.

I'm pretty sure they are allowed -- the rentals at MGM are even jogging strollers.

I have taken a double jogging stoller to DW with no problems. I have one that folds easily. I saw a lot of jog strollers there. They are wonderful.

The strollers that they let you borrow (with deposit of course) at the Poly concierge are jogging strollers! I've walked many a mile behind one of them so, yes they allow them.

The jogging strollers that they rent at MGM have small swivel wheels in the front. The jogging strollers that are a problem are the ones that have a single large (non-swivel) wheel in the front.
In the past at times they have not allowed people in with those type of jogging strollers. The reasoning given when people emailed WDW was that the front wheel sticks out so far that it becomes a possible tripping hazard. Also without a swivel wheel, you need to "bump" up on the rear tires to lift the front tire off the ground and pivot it. That means coming to a stop (or at least a slow) to make a turn. It may not seem like you turn a lot, but there are a lot of little turns to avoid things, like people stepping out in front of you, slower people, etc.
What WDW did when they didn't allow jogging strollers in was to lend a WDW stroller at no charge and store people's stroller in the stroller area.

Hi, Sorry to sound dense, but what do you mean by a jogging stroller? It sounds similar to my DS stroller for her baby and if it is it may be worth us buying an umbrella stroller before we go!!

Jogging strollers tend to have 3 wheels and look like bicycle tires instead of the normal plastic ones. They are designed for people to go jogging/running with them. We have seen them several times in the parks so it probably isn't a problem there. Using the buses might be more difficult but we found it was just easier to drive and not wait for their transporation most times.

This is a picture of the jogging strollers they rent at MGM. It has small swivel wheels on the front and larger wheels than a typical stroller on the back.

Most jogging strollers come with a single, non-swivel large wheel on the front. Some have an option to change to a smaller set of swivel wheels, which makes them more manouverable.
This link goes to the Baby Jogger site. They are the actual makers of the MGM strollers, but what most people think of as jogging strollers are the ones on that page with only one wheel in front.
